In 2007, the first iPhone was introduced by the Apple Inc. since then the face of the world communication has changed into the borderless communication at hand. It was revealed by eMarketer that in 2014 the number of the smartphone users globally was about 1.6 billion and this number might rise to 2.6 billion approximately in 2018 which could be calculated as more than half of the worldwide population. Moreover, according to Pylayev, some people in the US have considered their smartphones as their essential devices since smartphones make the internet connection almost effortless. It is worth stating at this point that with a high digital technology development, the smartphones have turned to become an important factor in people’s daily life because these devices are capable of making life in a day be easier to handle (Jesensky). In the same way, a smartphone has both positive and negative effects. As a consequence, since the smartphone users seem addicted to their phones more than before, people realize that the issue which should be worried about is the overusing of the smartphones. Notwithstanding, the advantages of the smartphones have been proved to defeat the disadvantages by much evidence that is showing which also confirms that there are the solutions to cope with those flaws. Once technology comes available it is important to learn and know the proper use of it. Children should be educated more to use it in positive way. Students are distracted by their phones when they are at school. As the teachers are always against the use of phones in school, students and computers when they are at school. One negative effect that students have at school is their lack of studies and grades.
Especially when someone is trying to get school work done, if they start using their phone, then it takes them so much longer to get that work done than if they had just put the phone down and do it. Smartphones are too much of a distraction to people, and it is sometimes hard to put them down. People nowadays rely so much on their smartphones and it is not okay. For example, for directions they just use the navigation map on ones phone instead of knowing how to get there by looking at directions.

Cell Phones: The average teenager who gets on their phone, just for a second, each hour has the same mind as a 30 year old cocaine addict. Teens have their minds tricked into thinking they can’t live without their cell phones and social media. Teens need to be able to talk to and connect with others and learn face-to-face communication skills. Nowadays teens can get harmed very easily, and teens do not really know who is on the other side of the screen. Studies have shown that phones can ruin lives with the blink of an eye.

Should students be allowed to have cellphones in school? Would cellphones affect your test performance or would they be a lifesaver in emergencies. I believe cell phones should not be in schools.
