Despite tobacco is subjected to a non-tariffs trade barriers, the number of smokers is on the increase both among men and women. Nowadays, it would be unheard of for people not to smoke. There are many reasons of the rising trend in the number of smokers among men and women. First is the factor of a lot of stress and pressures due to the economic problems. In this economic competitive era, they may be unemployed. Thus, they have forced to access to productivity-increasing opportunities such as formal schooling or on-the-job training in order to increase their knowledge, communication skill and performance so that they can persuade their business partners to corporate with them and thus they can survive in this economic competitive environment. In some unpredictable situations, they have to make decision and take action immediately. All these situations cause them to smoke to release their stress and pressures intended to feel relaxed. Although there are warning on box or pack, law against selling of small pack cigarette and anti-smoking campaign, they still love to smoke. In their mindset, when they light up a cigarette and tobacco, they feel that it ignited their life as smoking makes their mind feeling fresh and even relaxing their breath and then they can think properly. We can say that they are psychologically dependent since they depend on cigarette to deal with problematic situations. Since smoking is accepted by community, the number of smokers will then increased because this culture cause people do not concern and so they ignore any anti-smoking activities.
