There are three strategic options are suggested for SMRT to solve their problem.
The first option is recruit professional from oversea to provide latest technology knowledge and experience. Since the United States, United Kingdom and China has the world’s most advanced high speed rail projects (Kable, 9 July 2012), thus SMRT can try to recruit the professional who involved in these kinds of projects into their company. Based on their latest technology knowledge and experience, it can help SMRT to solve their problem and maintain a good train system.

Based on the MRT breakdown problem, it is the issue which needs to solve as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it will decrease trust of the citizens of Singapore. In order to reduce a bad hire, it should make sure the competency and professional qualification of the professional. Hence, the interview process will be getting longer. Due to the long recruitment process, it cannot solve MRT problem immediately. Send potential employee to Japan for training is also takes a long time. Even thought a short training program also need at least one month so it cannot resolve the MRT problem timely. Thus, provide a safe and reliable public transport to the citizens of Singapore is important. Recruit professional from oversea can provide a high safety for the train system. With their experience, latest technology knowledge and professional advice, it must make better improvement on the train system. The safety of send potential employee to Japan for training is medium. Japan is famous of their technology, if the employees can receive training program on Japan, they must acquire practical skills and latest technology knowledge. Thus, they can apply the skills and technology knowledge on the train system. But they are lack of experiences, so it is still has some risk on too rely them make improvement on the train system.
