Kimberly Chrisman writes an essay called “Sneakers Have Always Been Political Shoes” where she claims that “sneakers have always been canvases for political commentary and projection…” Chrisman is essentially claiming that sneakers politically identify individuals. Most of Chrisman’s sources are based on evidence from the 1900s only including very limited current proof. She starts her essay by giving her readers a current story having to do with New Balance shoes and Donald Trump. Chrisman also fleetingly mentions Nike and a tweet they tweeted along with a shoe exhibition called the Out of the Box exhibition. She then jumps into a brief description on a 19th-century athletic shoe, explaining their primary use along with stating the type of
Mrs. Schumacher Film Appreciation Final Paper Footloose When watching both Footloose movies the 1984 and the 2011 version, there are quite a few noticeable differences. I would like to start out by saying that the biggest one is the character choice. In my opinion Kevin Bacon didn't play a very good Ren McCormick. I believe that Kenny Wormald plays a better Ren. In my opinion the more modern version of the movie is a lot more up beat.
To begin with when Castle made his high tops low tops it was the first time when shoes played a big role in the book. When Castle cut his shoes to go faster but this only hurt him because his classmate Shamika embarrassed him. “Shamika couldn’t get herself together long enough to even speak, so instead she just pointed at my feet” (Reynolds 80). What Shamika did made Castle so frustrated that he skipped school and made him realize it was a waste of money which was already a problem in his family. Another time shoes played a big role was when Castle stole the “Silver Bullets” from the sports store.
Sanderson had mixed feeling about the shoes. He was feeling skeptical at first, but then he grew to understand why Douglas wanted the shoes so badly and changed his opinion. In the story, it says, “‘But not sneakers, sir! How you going to sell sneakers unless you can rave about them and how you going to rave about them unless you know them?’ Mr. Sanderson backed off a little distance from the boy’s fever, one hand to his chin.
Ethical challenges are of universal span; many people including police officers are confronted with the opportunities for violating organizational rules and norms daily. Most of the stories about police officers in the media, including Cops and Criminal Minds, are about respectable police officers, but the intense 2001 movie Training Day is not. Alonzo Harris, a veteran police officer with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), is training Jake Hoyt, a rookie officer on his first day with the narcotics unit. Harris’ character is an example of police officers’ potential for corruption. For instance, when Harris misuses the police authority and uses some fake arrest warrant seizing millions of dollars from a former LAPD veteran, now an informant

Throughout life we are told to express our individuality and swim against the stream of the general population to put emphasis on the characteristics that make us, in short, individuals. Cherishing what makes an individual special and different is what establishes roots in creativity and self expression, however there is a forced false sense of comradery in today’s society that takes the form of involvement with the masses; peer pressure forces many people to fall into the mold of an average character. The Academy award winning film, “The Incredibles” displays the themes of expressing one’s true self and special qualities, and in contrast repression by society to fit a basic mold. These themes are elaborated on through the development of the main characters and expressed further through the supporting roles and their dialogue and endeavors.
A shoe is nothing more than, “an outer covering for your foot…” according to the Merriam Webster. But a sneaker, a sneaker is so much more. This thing called the outer covering of a foot has become something so unbelievably powerful and impactful on the United States that it does it no justice to just call it the, “outer covering for your foot…” . Sneakers have become something so much more than just an article of clothing. Sneakers can be, and are, so much more.
