Tangerine: A Short Story

“ Oh, all the cats have names. I myself have five names. But Babooni is the dearest name to my heart” The cat said.

Snezhana was the happiest girl in the world when she saw her cat once again in a good health. She was worried as he was still recovering, and asked him to stay around and not to go outside until he is healed. The cat knows that he caused Snezhana many troubles. He wore his new hat and sat himself on the table and spent what left of the day grooming himself.

The fog spread over the valley. The vision was hard and the night was a dark one, the King dismissed the people to sleep. They were overjoyed by the tale. It's a new line for them. They have never heard of a cat who can talk or dress like them. They were touched by the poor

Tangerine spent her night thinking of Ken and wondering if she were able to catch his attention. She was persistent about him. Tangerine is a more of practical girl. She realized that she was not that rich girl anymore, and the life in the valley will be different than in the late the Kingdom. Ken is charming and has a good profession. It's a very good deal.

Eleanor spent her night thinking of Carver and begging the fate to bring him back to her. She couldn't imagine herself with another man than him, and whatever the people around her saying about him. she seems to be getting more eager and persistent than before. Fate is neither blind nor weak as Lord Torrance once said. Why had she been engaged with him at the first place and why is he too good to be true for her. The fate is arranging the events for the best it has to be like this, otherwise the whole life we are living is meaningless. “ Why are your hands cuffed?” Eleanor asked worriedly.

“ That's why I don't want you to make a noise” Carver said.

“ Follow me, we have to find a safe place where no one can hear us” Carver said.

Both Carver and Eleanor took their steps inside the woods. Carver was looking for a place away from the camp and the people. He wanted to tell Eleanor what had happened to him since he left the Kingdom.

“ I know this doesn't sound like me. But I don't care about anything as long as you are still alive” Eleanor said.

“ You are saying this because you are in love with me. But the King will execute me if he will find out what I've done” Carver said.

“ You don't need to tell them everything. They were not there to deny your statement” Eleanor said.

“ And what about these cuffs and the other ships on the coast?” Carver said.
