Soccer Leadership Qualities

When I think of leadership, I think of it as a skill that not everyone can develop. For me, it took numerous times of being a follower or a leader, before developing this skill and form the type of leader that I wanted to become.

The summer of my junior year I had a severe injury which made me led me but no choice to let go of my other sports and my after school music activities. It was a burden on my shoulders because I loved doing all the activities but in the end, it was all about getting better grades, improving my playing skills and most importantly for me to get healthy again. I worked through the difficult times so I could be there for my team. Teamwork was possibly the most valuable lesson I learned from Lacrosse. Learning to work together with other individuals to achieve a common goal is a skill that I have used and will continue to use, for the rest of my life. In the future, I will continue to use teamwork even if it's not in a team setting. In that team environment, working together every day in practice, I learned how to work efficiently and communicate effectively with a group of people different from who I am. As for my leadership I hope to improve on what I have already. Being a leader on sports teams before I have learned a few things. One is that being a leader is never about yourself, it 's about getting everyone involved and listening to what others have to say. Also even though you are called a leader doesn 't mean you know everything, so if you’re ever stuck on a hard decision fine some help; never stop learning. I make sure I always remember these two things for my leadership.

Having only one soccer club in Bend to play competitively on and having a relatively small population put me playing with almost the exact same group of girls in the club as I grew up. This also left me knowing everyone who plays soccer and consequently when I got to high school soccer, I was still with the same girls. We had been playing with each other for 7 plus years and had become an incredibly close unit on and off the field. Some of my closest friends came from playing soccer. Soccer had helped me break out of my shell socially and provided an outlet for stress relief. My life revolved around soccer.

The National Honor Society is based off of four pillars; Scholarship, Leadership, Service, and Character. Scholarship is one of the most important pillars to me. Scholarship means not only doing well in school and getting good grades, but applying what I have learned and using it everyday. I know the importance of education and feel that I am a lifelong learner. I feel very fortunate to have been raised in a family where education is a priority. I was taught to work hard and never give up.

It is an extraordinary honor to be considered as a candidate for the National Honor Society. Being considered means I have achieved my goal in demonstrating my determination- in school and outside of school- and my willingness to aid people in my community. Being a part of such a prestigious organization is an enormous responsibility to which I will fully devote my time. Ever since I was a freshman, my goal was to work diligently to be among the highest scholars and to be accepted into this scholarly “hall of fame”. Through my relentless hard work and perseverance, I believe that I possess the four characteristics of a National Honor Society member- leadership, service, character, and scholarship.

I began playing soccer when I was eight, which isn’t a very long time, but throughout the six years I’ve been playing, soccer has changed my life. When I first thought about how soccer impacted my life, nothing really came to mind. I was that kid who mostly looked forward to the end of the game snacks and bringing around the goal jar. Being a leader involves many different characteristics. A leader must set the example for all others in the group, because if they are to show up late to practice, there isn’t a reason that any of the other members should not do the same. A leader must take risks for the benefit of the group as well as make sacrifices for it. Becoming the leader of the group requires for them to be the most dedicated. They must work harder and not be afraid to lead the group. A leader must be willing and ready to not only give orders but receive them.

You can enjoy the moments when you play with your friends and family as well as when you join a soccer team. You will be meeting new friends that you have not met before. It is helpful because you and your team will have rules to do when you play in the field, and they build trust with you which you can know everyone strength from weakness. Gaining a friend can increase your popularity which also at the same time will encourage you to play much better. For example, I have been playing soccer for a long time with my buddies, and they call me in every time there is a match. Most of the countries are playing soccer. Becoming a leader can ensure that everyone is listening to you. The leader will accept the fact whenever you lose and being happy whenever you win. For instance, my team played soccer, and when we lost, the team was sad and the leader encouraged us to be happy by saying that not every time we would win, and we should accept the

There are many qualities that good leaders must possess in order to be able to maintain a group united and working together, whether it is a sports or any academic team or club. For example; football/volleyball, U.I.L/ National Honor Society, or even Spanish/Interact club. Leaders must be willing to pass on a positive influence and know when to take charge. They must begin to be role models to those they associate with on a daily basis.

Soccer has kept me off the streets, it keeps me focused, maintaining agility, stamina and a side of aggression. The feeling I get when playing soccer is indescribable, the wind in my face, the crowd cheering me on..most importantly the goal - soccer relates so much to my everyday life it’s taught me teamwork and keeping myself healthy and sharp. The one person I look up to is Lionel Messi #10, the jersey that I so proudly wear every game, his motivational words, his enthusiasm really drove me to get that number and one of my favorite quotes of his would have to be “the day you think there is no improvements to be made is a sad one for anyone.” this quote is important to me because it’s a quote with such a powerful meaning, telling me that even though you may THINK you can’t get better, or do better something pushes you inside to do much greater things and I’m still learning as I go.
