Back in the 18th and early-19th century, soccer was looked down upon in many parts of the world and didn’t start getting attention until England picked it up. Since then, people from all around have shown their love for the sport. “According to a 2001 FIFA survey, over 240 million people regularly play soccer in more than 200 countries, in every part of the world,” (Starkebaum "Soccer's influence in the United States" 2016). Soccer has become so global that hundreds of countries around the world compete for 31 spots in the FIFA world cup, which happens every four years. The simplicity of soccer has allowed people in all corners of the world to play soccer, regardless of economic or social
It was a rainy spring morning and I was playing in a soccer tournament with my brother, the rest of our team, and my dad as the coach. TWEET, TWEET, TWEET! We were all ecstatic when the referee blew the whistle to end the most important game of the season because we won the game! We all ran off the field and my dad told us to calm down and shake hands with the other team. “It’s good sportsmanship”, my dad said.
“The U.S. women’s team will get a $2 million bonus for winning the FIFA Women 's World Cup. A lot of money to you and me, yes. But to put that in perspective, after Germany won the men’s tournament last year, they earned an extra $35 million” (Mazziota). Why is it that both the male and female teams won the same exact thing, but the women’s team gets so much less? We can also see it happening through golf.
I play soccer for the Oakridge Soccer Club. I have been playing soccer since I was five years of age. When I first started playing Soccer I had a coach who used to go by the motto “every shot u miss, is a miss towards life.” Soccer is one of the two only sports I play and when I’m on the field I feel confident in myself because, if you show courage and confidence you will achieve your goal in life and even though my goal may not be to make goal for soccer my goal is to become a Soccer leader. I want to be a captain who talks to the referees during a game when our team has a problem, concern, or question. In other words, I believe soccer has changed my life and became an ongoing achievement in my life, that will forever stay in my heart forever.
Soccer has been my life This whole entire time since the day I came out, the story I will talk about is mostly about soccer. The reason why I said ‘’ Soccer has been my life This whole entire time since the day I came out ‘’ is because, on July 20, 2001, there was a soccer player is known as fenômeno AKA (Ronaldo luís nazário de lima) the was the best player in the 2000’s he has played for a lot of years he was born in Brazil he played for Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus and a lot of other teams. On July 20 there was a game which he scored about seven goals they won the game seven zero, on July 27, 2001, seven days after that happened I was born and my dad my uncles, my brothers my whole village were in love with the way Ronaldo plays the way he
The Olympics are without a doubt the highest stage in all of sports. Athletes from all over the world come together to compete in their sport. Golf now has the honor of being one those sports. It has not always been an Olympic sport but it was added to the event in Rio De Janeiro in 2016. Golf was also apart of the Olympics 1900 and 1904.
Once they score, the team gets 7 points on the board and they then try to kick a field goal in order to get more points on the board. There are four, fifteen minute quarters with a halftime intermission after the second quarter. Being the only country in the world that plays football, the United States of America highest governing body is the NFL (National Football League). On the other hand, Soccer is played in just one half time each of which is played 45 minutes. Each goal is just one point only and there are no field goals.
For example my brother and I play soccer. We practice once every week but, we can still get better. Anyways my brother is 15 years old and has played since he was 3 years old where as I on the other hand am 13 years old and has only been playing since I was about 10 or 11. Not only is he older, he’s played for longer, and him being male also gives him an advantage a very slight advantage but none the less an
It predates any other sport but is only recently coming to America. It has been all over the world and every country plays it. Much like the Baseball has the World Series; Soccer has the world cup that all countries participate in, through qualifiers. Influence is drawn from the love of the game, while being considered a gentleman’s sport. Through this sport, people are brought together, while together they start things.

The most important sports broadcasting moment in US history is Al Michaels’ play calling of the semi-final game showcasing the USA against the Soviet Union in the 1980 Olympic games. The second most important moment was the US women’s national soccer team victory against China in the 1999 Women’s FIFA World Cup. The third moment is when Jim Valvano’s squad won the 1983 NCAA finals. The lasting image from the game is when Valvano looks for someone to hug in celebration of the victory. ‘Miracle on Ice’ is the greatest sports broadcasting moment in the 20th century.
Joe Montana is one of the most influential quarterbacks of the late twentieth century. Joe Montana, or Joe Cool as some called him, won four superbowl rings. He received the nickname for always being calm under pressure. He was the king of fourth quarter comebacks, leading over thirty game winning drives in his career, including a famous one in the superbowl of 1989. On that drive, he spotted the actor John Candy in the stands and decided to point it out in the huddle, right before leading his team 92 yards and throwing the game winner with thirty four seconds left in the game.
. The only thing that stood in their way were Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The Packers ended up beating the Steelers 31-25 and brought home the ring. Since 2011, the NFL has only become bigger across the global economy and now plays weekly games in London, England. They also play an annual game in Mexico City, Mexico.
