I wanted to be involved in this social action because it was a great opportunity to help those less fortunate then myself. As a student attending a Catholic school it is so great that we got to work through a Catholic organization who are helping a predominantly Catholic nation (97% of Timor-Leste is Catholic). It was also great to run our social action because it was a chance to help our neighbouring countries in the Pacific which gave me strong senses of global community. Running these social actions also gave me feeling of accomplishment, a feeling that I had really made a change in someone's life for the better. As well as this I was proud to be taking part in these social actions because I admire how Caritas is working alongside HAFOTI …show more content…
This is because that between both of them we managed to achieve our goal of raising awareness and funds to go to Caritas. We surpassed our goal of how much money we were going to make for the car wash and we targeted a large audience by running the activities in tutor class. If we were to do this again I think we could improve our project by giving more notice to the tutor class activities by putting some information in the notices, this would be to alert students that it was happening to raise more awareness. I think the car wash could also be involved by collecting the materials earlier, this is because we were in quite a hurry towards when the car wash was happening to gather the materials we would need. For my own personal involvement I should've been more involved in the tutor class activities. Because I was so absorbed in what was going on in the car wash I completely neglected the tutor class activities. This was shown when I forgot to write my prayer, this was because I was preoccupied with car wash stuff. As for the car wash I was very involved, I think this was because the activity interested me more and it required a lot of planning, an aspect of the action I was able to take part in because as I was unfortunately away for the social action when it
I volunteered at the PI Math Assistant for my service learning assignment. This assignment helped me to know how much I enjoyed being around people and helping others as much as I can and most importantly this experience helped me a lot to see how helping others is also helping yourself at the same time. This assignment has a lot of advantages in me besides helping the trig student I was even learning myself from the student that I was tutoring for almost one month and twenty hours. The experience of helping others gives me the motivation to even do better in my other classes and I feel like I did help someone to be a better student in math. Besides tutoring the trig student I got to know him better personally and we become a good friends
I love volunteering because even though you don't get money for helping someone, you get the joy and happiness of knowing you did something good for someone else. Being a member of Key Club and Junior Optimist I have the opportunity to volunteer frequently in the community and to the school. I have volunteered to work in various booths at the Glandorf Park Fest. I helped work at the YMCA Trunk or Treat to pass out candy to the little kids on Halloween. A group of my friends went over to Kalida to help with the Triathlon.
Growing up in an impoverished town, I make it my goal to give back and serve communities much like the one that I grew up in. Moreover, another aspiration of mine is to frequently
My favorite act of service that I have ever done was through the school’s project based learning. I had heard that the NWC Men’s Basketball Team was building a house a Haitian family who’s house had collapsed with all their belongings. I then contacted the men’s basketball coach asking if my group and I could raise money to buy items for their house. We organized a traditional bake sale, as well as an online bake sale, to raise money for the family. In the midst of baking 40 dozen cookies and 38 dozen cupcakes, I was coordinating with a missionary in Haiti, Krisie Mompremier, who knew what the family needed most.
You have opportunities to help the people in your own backyard, travel the country or the world and help people in
The Process of Reflection The process of reflection is central to clinical supervision. Launer (2003) describes external and internal factors in supervision whereby clinical practice and sharing skills are external and reflection is an ‘internal conversation.’ Brunero & Stein-Parbury (2008) discussed the effects of clinical supervision in nursing staff and argued that self-reflection generates a sense of self-awareness and knowledge to the individual. Supervisees or students may be asked what happened during a clinical event, how they felt, the implications of their actions and what they would do differently if faced with the same situation.
Journal - Day 1 So far the experience is going very well. I met my cooperating teacher and we talked about different stuff on what and what not to do. During some free time I was memorizing students’ names and where they were sitting out. My cooperating teacher has a clipboard with pictures of the students faces from last years school book and where they are sitting at on sheets of paper. We also exchanged phone numbers and reporting time is at 7:20 and dismissal is anywhere from 2 - 4:20.
I was never the perfect student, nor was I always perfectly behaved. I understand that there are more people like this, that is why I strive to help others in achieving their own personal goals. Spending time at school tutoring sessions, and the school band program has allowed me to help people in the way that I strive to. I am able to help people become better at a school subject that they may be struggling with, or even teach someone how to play certain type of percussion instrument that they may not have known how to play. I want to be able to look back on those experiences and know that I may have inspired someone to help others in the same way that I did for them.
While in the first grade classroom, I was able to form a great relationship with my mentor teacher that allowed me to be very hands on with the students throughout the semester. Among many things, I learned how to run an educational circle and calendar time, worked with small groups of students to improve reading, provided practice spelling tests to students, assisted students in developing their writing abilities, and implemented the class’s behavior management plan. While I worked with the fifth grade
Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family. However, I am grateful to have been able to help my mother care for them. Growing up in such a caring and loving household made the situation
At that time, my region of Texas had ample poverty, and the church wanted to abate that burden. As a result, they created the fair, and it helped families ever since. My contribution might have been modest, but it was important because it, along with other contributions, added up into one big contribution that truly benefited the community. In addition to the money it raised, my job was important to me because it gave me a love of volunteering. As I mentioned above, this was my first attempt at volunteering, so before this, I never volunteered.
Reflection, what is it? By David Mulcahy. (14375771)
Describe any service that you’ve done in the past year. If you could help any charitable/service organization, which would it be and why? * Service is an important aspect in my life. Whether it is donating your time, talent, or treasure, I believe that giving back is an important attribute in growing as an individual. Throughout my time in highschool and up onto this very day I continue my philanthropic work with the Ronald McDonald House of Southern New Jersey.
Who am I? I am Quentina Burnett and I have been developed by socialization, to be able to fit within the society. Socialization is the process where an individual learns behavior, values, culture, and norms of the society to develop his or her personality to become a proficient person in the society (Keirns et al., 2016). This process starts in the early stage of a baby, to an adult, and continues until the individual dies. The process of socialization gives people and myself the basic social contact and social interaction needed to develop “self”.
The students were productively engaged during the lesson plan and learning process. Furthermore, I know that the students were productively engaged based on the comments and questions that they said during the lesson. During the lesson the students were excited about the group work and reading materials. 3.Did I alter my instructional plan as I taught the lesson?
