The social-conflict approach is a framework for building theory that sees society as an arena of inequality that generates conflict and change. This approach featuring inequality, conflict and change are all shown in minorities with disabilities issues. Minority students with disabilities, are more likely to be sent to prison.
One of the main reasons why they are more likely to be sent to prison, is because schools use the law enforcement to handle the discipline. However, the school administrators and the teachers are supposed to be trained to deal with behavioral issues without involving the law enforcement, unless it causes a threat to other students and staff. To solve this dilemma, disabled children are protected by Individualized Education
Conflict among infants and toddlers do happen. It is important to allow them to experience conflict with our support. They are allowed to safely engage in conflict and resolve it their way and learn to handle conflict by themselves, rather than the staff resolving it for them. Supervision is crucial, and getting down to the child’s level when communicating shows
According to the NASW (2006), students with disabilities and special needs should receive adequate educational services. It is the responsibility of the schools to identify students
Discernment is generally at loss in the midst of tragedy. The film Ordinary People displays how the Jarrett family copes with the loss of their son, Buck, in a boating accident. Inability to communicate ultimately leads to far more dysfunction than Conrad, Beth, and Calvin can imagine. The misinterpretation of acts of “silence or violence” can be avoided with conflict management techniques.
I think the most important conflict in the novel, A Lesson Before Dying is person versus self (Grant versus self). Grant struggles with self-doubt, unsure if what he is doing within his community is truly making a difference. This uncertainty is evident when Grant questions himself in relation to his teaching at the local church, “What am I doing? Am I reaching them at all?... Is it just a vicious circle?
Many students have learning disabilities that can affect them in many ways weather being writing focusing on a task at hand, standing up to people, talking backwards, having to make things perfect and many more. But there can be a disadvantage to all that. Having certain learning disabilities can be treated unfairly in certain schools like being separated from kids that might help them, or being treated like little children. When in reality being with “normal” kids might help them more.sometimes their needs are met and sometimes they are not. Which that is what this report is all about.
The student assessed, AJ Jordan, is a fourth grade student. He was referred to special education mid-second grade due to an increase in behavioral difficulties. These behaviors significantly impacted his ability to access the academic curriculum, interrupted the learning of others and, he was hospitalized due to an increase of unsafety in the home. AJ was assessed by the special education team and, it was determined that he met the requirements of Emotionally Disturbed, one of the thirteen recognized, academic disabilities. It was then determined that the regular education classroom was not the least restrictive environment and, AJ was referred to a self-contained behavior program housed in the same school.
Over the last 30 years, establishing appropriate academic taxonomy disciplines for children with disabilities has been a challenge. However, the laws governing how we teach our students with disabilities and how we instruct them throughout the day is constructed by different legislations that have shaped the very existence of Special Education programs. All laws, in general, are to protect the student and family in the public school system by providing guidelines and legal aspects of the law are upheld through the child’s Individual Education Plan/Program (IEP), and policy and procedural safeguards. These safeguards outline the very essence of situational outcomes, compliance, and the necessary procedures in place for the parent to take action against the school district
(2010). Differentiating instruction for disable students in inclusive classroom Another article written by Broderick, Meta-Parekb, & Reid, (2010) contemplated on the inclusive education the US is providing to students irrespective of race, abilities, color or gender into the public school system. As the need for integration is asserted so as not to marginalized students with disabilities, still one could possibly identified that there are still segregation happening in schools as there are special instructions and classrooms for disabled students are implemented in the system. The authors are particularly emphatic in the use of differentiating instructions inside the classrooms till everyone understands.
Throughout the film, Ordinary People, the Jarrett family deals with sudden severe tragic news. When the news was received of their son Buck getting in an awful boating accident, the family became a mess. The relations in the family for each family member became weak, due to lack of communication. Beth, Calvin, and Conrad all could have related back to the conflict management skills to help them as a whole.
How people best response to conflict? Since the very beggining of civilization, of humans, of life in every single form. There has always been problems that surge between different life forms. From where to live, or expand, who is the one that gets the most food, who can live on the best house, etc.
Conflict Theory American society today is made up of all three of the theories. In my opinion, these theories all thrive off each other as a whole. I feel that the chain is something like this, Symbolic Interactionism, as well as Functionalism, lead into Conflict Theory. However, I feel that Conflict Theory is by far the largest component American society is made from, here is why! First I would like to touch on Symbolic Interactionism, symbols we attach value or meaning.
My salient identity is being Asian with parents that are immigrants, and are also in the lower middle class category. Being Asian to me falls into the conflict theory. The conflict theory to me is if you are poor, you have less resources to climb into the next wealth class. My parents showed me that you don't need much to help yourself. Sometimes it can be good to be Asian, more is expected out of you when it comes to your parents, and it can really motivate you to do better.
Socioeconomic injustice and cultural injustice were identified as the two major types of injustices. Recognition and redistribution and are conferred as means in which these biases can be relieved, whereas changing arrangements and attitudes are observed as superior ways of dealing with prejudice for people with disabilities. It is also highlighted that although this would work against people with disabilities but people should be rewarded for their involvement to society. However, the common perception is that people with special education needs are indeed human beings and they require justice and enjoyment of human rights. The concept of social integrity within a critical theory framework will highlight the approach and analysis to develop a quality model for special education.
Effective leaders must learn to embrace conflict because it is an inexorable part of human interactions and without intervention, it seldom finds its own productive solutions (Myatt, 2012). The failure to address conflict early on will likely lead to workplace acrimony, disengagement and poor communication and cooperation (Myatt, 2012). The story of the conflict between Cindy and Dr. Jones is an excellent case to analyze the elements of conflict and conflict management.
he problem within the workplace is hostility which can be toxic to the efficiency determination, and collaboration with the work environment. There has been a lot of tension with the coworkers and management staff because management has not demonstrated effective conflict resolution techniques. In the story Sheila has concerns because management has not intervened to alleviate the prevalent behavior of the hostile employee. The employee continues the rant and express outburst that disturbs the office which can be challenging when expressing emotions. According to Egan (2006) he states that managing our emotions and the way we express them is part of social intelligence.
