Firstly, it assures sense of fairness in health care system because one major goal is to meet patients’ needs. Again, it empowers patients to seek consultation with the physician of their choice and to play an active role in staying and getting healthy More importantly is the fact that it gives patients a way to solve any problems that they may have. 6.1 PERSONAL CONTEXT I feel that patients have the right to considerate and respectful care; bill of right is an impetus to this assertion. I strongly belief that nurses should be conversant with the elements of bill of right and work in tandem with such while discharging their professional
Breathing pure and clean air prevents air contamination. Sanitized, clean, and free of clutter environment is necessary to prevent bad hygiene, the risk of infection and fall risk to the residents from their recovery process. Preventive health care practices are another way of helping the patient live better, healthier, and longer. This can be incorporated into practice by prompt vaccination, timely health screening especially for high-risk patients, counseling as when to call for a physician noticing something strange such as
If any member of my family is unwell, we take the time to do whatever we can to make sure that person is well rested and back on their feet as soon as possible. We prioritize the needs of our family as a whole rather than our own personal interests. We are huge believers in health protection or illness prevention. Health protection or illness prevention is “described as behavior motivated desire to actively avoid illness, detect it early, or maintain functioning within the constraints of illness” (Nola Pender, 2011). By promoting and protecting our health, it allows us to live to our peak and overall well-being.
When exploring what is health, it looks at the idea of an individual being free from illness or injuries (World Health Organization 1948). WHO further explains that it is the state of complete: physical, mental, and social well-being and not the absence of disease or infirmity (health context, 2018) In 1986 during Ottawa Charter for Health Promotion, WHO said health is a resource for everyday life, not the objective of living, also is a positive concept emphasizing social, personal resources, and physical capacities. There are different aspects that contribute and impact a person’s health such as their: family and friends, education or job, body, spirit and mind, and all these need to balance to ensure good health (health context, 2018). Holistic health looks at all the methods of healthcare from conventional medication to different therapies to care for a person who needs it. An example is when someone is experiencing
Quality in health care is involved in every decision we make and providing quality care will have a positive impact on our patients currently and in their future. Patients are getting more involved in shared decision making and keeps patients fully engaged in their health care. It is important to the future of health care as it can decrease cost of unnecessary hospitals visits. The FEMA Disaster Management certificates opened my eyes to systems that needs to be in place for emergencies. The future is unknown, and FEMA Disaster Management showed me how nurses can provide commitment and serve in times of crisis.
I learned that nurses need to be familiar with patient’s rehabilitation by knowing therapies that are indispensable and beneficial for their recoveries; and that active involvement in the prevention of deteriorations and complications in physical health and function is important for the patient (p. 22). 3. The article changed the way I think and understand that knowledge is power hence educating patients on best practice to get them back to health or functioning normally is of the essence. 4. In my future practice, I will frequently update self of therapies and pay more attention to details that the patient identifies as essential for recovery to better help them regain their well-being and ability to perform their daily activities.
In our proposed system, besides basic patient demographics, pre-existing comorbidity data, and medication usage, we will emulate more event categories such as nurse-verified chart events, laboratory tests, and fluid balance records etc. to better assist ICU clinicians in making critical decisions. We are using these event based categories from the MIMIC-II data. Generally, event based categories are also includes the event duration. Since, for making critical decisions these events based categories with event duration are more helpful.
Interprofessional collaboration is the key to achieving success across education, leadership, practice, and better patient outcomes. Often times in the hospital where I work, we huddle with a doctor, social worker, case manager, and charge nurse to review the patient and discuss patient care. Collaborating as a group benefits everyone involved. The patient has better outcomes, the nurses are provided with a plan of care, the case manager understands the needs of the patients, doctors become of aware of the patient’s current health status, and the social worker works on where the patient goes after hospitalization. As nursing trends continue to grow and change, our focus should always remain the same, which is centered around our patient.

Healthy People 2020 aims to educate and support the nation in wellness and prevention just as well as nurses do. Please describe what public health means to you in 100 words. Public health focuses to protect, maintain, and elevate the health and safety of populations and communities. First, public health aims to prevent sickness or injury by encouraging healthy behaviors. An example is educating people about the risks of drugs.
