In every last corner one discovers a few men smoking weed and further along the same path oil drums over hot coal containing cocoa brew (umqombothi), which is the place one finds most unemployed men drinking, while kids play sitting tight for their moms to offer the last jugs for the day. Amongst the very first moment will discover numerous individuals in the Langa range as opposed to being grinding away and having nothing to accomplish for whatever remains of the day. These individuals don 't work and there are no tasks or any manifestation of exercises that keep them occupied, yet disregarding this they by one means or another figure out how to purchase liquor and medications. Only one former apartheid cabinet minister has sought amnesty for his role in the political crimes of the last white government. Every other minister has dodged the Truth and Reconciliation Commission 's (Document 5) .” This demonstrates that although the TRC’s goal was to bring about reconciliation and justice ( between races, victims, and crime perpetrators), they chose not to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions. Since the high up officials were not held accountable, it demonstrates that the white government officials still get benefits, undermining the positive effects that this could

1. I think they find it necessary to move so often because it has been a dream for the family of six to have a piece of property like the houses shown on TV. The story begins when the family buys a new house on Mango Street. This new house is the first the family has owned and does not fulfill their dream. The house is simply not big enough for the family.
“Hispanic men, for their part, have made no progress in narrowing the wage gap with white men since 1980” (Patten lines 39-40). Since the dawn of time there has always been discrimination against races that society deems “superior”. In history, in the lives of those who are dedicated to change, and for the betterment of Texas there has always been a shadow cast by inequality. There is hope from every educated person, that this stigma would be completely eradicated. Inequality does nothing but hurt our society and weaken the ties between fellow human beings.
This appeared to be their way of life since the community did not offer any employment opportunities after the plantations were closed. People started to engage in criminal activities which lead to their incarceration. In Lalee’s household alone, three men were in jail. Redman and Granny’s fathers were serving time and Lalee’ son was in and out of jail. They often talked about the criminal justice system because their love ones were within that system.
The europeans who came in and messed everything up now think that blacks cause all of the bad things in South Africa and think they need to protect themselves from it. “We shall live from day to day, and put more locks on the doors, and get a fine fierce dog when the fine fierce bitch next door has pups, and hold on to our handbags more tenaciously”(135). This shows what the white people think the black people in South Africa. Maya Verdier Global Studies 2H Mr. Grace Set: 1 South African Apartheid Apartheid was the policy of segregation, political, and economic discrimination against non-European groups in South Africa. Apartheid was introduced in 1948 and created a tremendous turning point in South African history. South Africa was colonized by the English and Dutch in the 17th century. The English and Dutch later became called Afrikaners, and these two groups had a power-share over Africa until the 1940’s. When the Afrikaner National Party gained a strong majority Apartheid was invented.
The survey states that four out of every ten South Africans believe that apartheid was not wrong in its oppressive actions, as well as one third of white South Africans believing that poverty in South Africa in the present day is not a result of apartheid (Wadvalla, 2013). Seeing that this data was gathered twenty years apart the first democratic election in South Africa,
