Social institutions are forms of groups or organisations such as schools, family, governments, gangs, etc. They have patterns of behaviours which are based on the central needs of humans in society. These institutions are the most important in the creation of personalities in individuals. These individuals are taught the rules and traditions of the institution which is then brought forward into their life from then. These rules that are made are meant for controlling individuals in various unique ways which in time has to be compulsorily obeyed by the individual.
Types of institutions
The first social institution that everyone is familiar to will be governments. These political institutions make sure that there is law, order and security in the country and to make sure that the society is safe.

For example, they are taught on how to speak and behave when interacting with others informally. Home is a place where a lot of life morals and lessons are learnt. This shapes a part of his personality.
The family is the most widespread group. It is categorised based on structure and residence.
There are two different structures of families.
A) Patriarchal Family is when the male is the family head with the powers. He also maintains and oversees the family properties and rights. According to him, all the other family members will be inferior.
B) Matriarchal Family is exactly similar to the patriarchal family with the only difference being that the instead of the man who is the head, it is the woman. The woman head of the family will control all the things happening a home and all powers are in her possession. Thus, the male is subordinated to her.
There are also two types of residence for the family.
A) Patrilocal family is when the woman goes and lives in the house of the spouse
B) Matrilocal family is when the man goes and lives in the house of the
