The necessities and the lifestyles of the older persons are different, according to their family background and depending on their health related conditions. Maintaining a good communication with family, friends, and neighbours is an integral part of the social life of these older persons.

All the participants that participated in this study mentioned that for no reason they will miss out any family events, despite the hearing difficulties that they are experiencing. On the other hand, outside family events for one reason or another were less frequented. Therefore, during the interview time, some of them revealed some kind of social isolation. As the family is considered as the basic unit of our society, the participants mentioned that during social events they needed the comfort of an immediate family member to be there next to them and help them out to interact with others in case they don’t understand what is said:
“I still like to take part in family events, but I need my wife next to me to explain in case I can’t hear the others” (Michael). …show more content…

Feelings of frustration, anxiety, anger and depression were mentioned in their statements which appeared as a result of incapability in interacting in verbal communicating situations, affecting social as well as personal life. For the sake of this study, the term personal life was embraced from a network-based approach, referring it as a summon of work life, recreational job, health and personal relationship. Also, including leisure activities, passive and active activities. Active activities would include walking, running, jogging or recreative activities. In relation to the active activities, unfortunately, none of the participants were involved for various reasons, but mainly six of them for health reasons, while the other three female respondents did not practice any of these activities even in their best time of
