The necessities and the lifestyles of the older persons are different, according to their family background and depending on their health related conditions. Maintaining a good communication with family, friends, and neighbours is an integral part of the social life of these older persons.
All the participants that participated in this study mentioned that for no reason they will miss out any family events, despite the hearing difficulties that they are experiencing. On the other hand, outside family events for one reason or another were less frequented. Therefore, during the interview time, some of them revealed some kind of social isolation. As the family is considered as the basic unit of our society, the participants mentioned that during social events they needed the comfort of an immediate family member to be there next to them and help them out to interact with others in case they don’t understand what is said:
“I still like to take part in family events, but I need my wife next to me to explain in case I can’t hear the others” (Michael).

Feelings of frustration, anxiety, anger and depression were mentioned in their statements which appeared as a result of incapability in interacting in verbal communicating situations, affecting social as well as personal life. For the sake of this study, the term personal life was embraced from a network-based approach, referring it as a summon of work life, recreational job, health and personal relationship. Prior to reading these chapters I wasn’t really sure what to expect. I have never really been exposed to the Deaf- World. I have watched shows such as Switched at Birth, but I know that it doesn’t completely portray the real Deaf- Community. Introduction There are many different types of cultures in society around the world, all with their own individual accepted ways of behaviour, some cultures might be familiar and others might seem strange to us. Cultures have their own set of norms to control acceptable behaviour. If we as fellow human beings all took the initiative to understand each other’s cultures, it might not seem that strange to us anymore and it is possible that we could help others in a way that is acceptable to the society in which we live in. The aim of this essay is to discuss, using a view based on the sociological imagination, whether a unique personal family issue can be related to an issue in society.

The most efficient form of communication should be identified early in the job – considering the current issue, deadlines, state of any data (offline/online) and number and location of all individuals involved. For instance; you need to make contact with a colleague who works in a different department regarding an alteration to a member of the public’s details. An Email would be the best form of written communication as the task is not a priority, all the data could be kept computerized to save time and verbal contact is not necessary.

Social and psychological needs for the elderly are no different from people my age, the quest of normal aging is formalized by the activity theory which applies to this completing this assignment. When older people maintain activities they become less isolated and find substitutes for work, friends and family that has passed. Once older people are engage and obtain social networks, social approval, and high self-esteem this enhances their well-being.

Social standing is applicable in a wide range of realms such as behavioral factors as well as social sciences.
Elder abuse can be referred to as a single or repeated act or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person. Elderly people often get abuse by people who should be their protector and carer, in most circumstances many elderly adults are abused in their own homes, in relatives’ homes, and even in facilities responsible for their care. It means that they have different experience, lifestyle, communication skills or physical disabilities and cause the barriers between them. The teenagers will believe that they have no common interests and topic to talk or share with older people, resulting in poor communication. Moreover, the barriers block the transmission of messages and lead to misunderstanding. In order to better analyze this phenomenon, I will use my daily experience to discuss the barriers between teens and elderly. Also, I would like to suggest some solutions for building up the good communication between them.
