This journal article is about how in the world that we live in today, the usage of social media has turned into a daily routine and necessity for college and graduate students. According to Pew
Internet in 2015, 90% of adults aged 18 to 29 are networking on social media. Based on the survey and data analysis, Austin -McCain found that the usage of social media is somewhat related to healthy lifestyle habits such as relaxation, leisure, participation in social activities as well as their satisfaction with daily routines. However, research also showed that healthy lifestyle habits such as healthy eating and exercising have no relations between other healthy habits. This study is important as Austin-McCain concluded that although social media is not harmful, interdisciplinary practitioners, as well as educators, should be informed with essential information and strategies in order to promote overall health and well-being as undergraduate and graduate students are exposed to the risks of having poor health (CDC, 2016).
