The Media A billion people use the internet everyday and on average an American teenager spends about 11 hours a day on some type of social media. The media has a substantial impact on everyone's life owing the fact of the amount of time we all spend on the internet. In knowing this the media should give positive images and messages but, does the media actually do that? Or are they too worried about making money and getting viewers. From “Toddlers and Tiaras” to “The Kardashians”, are these explicit images of how women should be viewed and how men should view them. I believe there’s ways to fix the way our society is going, it won’t just be fixed in just one way, it will take multiple procedures and different mindsets. We need to start by addressing the issue to as many people as possible, everyone needs to at least be aware of what they are actually letting into their brains. Everyone has their own opinions on social media, they may really enjoy, they may hate it, and some people may not even use it, but they should know what the owners of these companies real agenda is. The biggest way we can stop the brainwashing is by hitting these companies where it really matters, their bank accounts. If they don’t have money they don’t have a way to publicise, and they won’t be able to say or do whatever they want because they won’t have the money to back it up. Hitting them in their banks account could simply just be deleting a social media app, or returning a game, or to discontinue watching a reality show. The last way we can stop this is just by us, if we are aware of everything then it is up to us to change it. It’s up to us to stop overly using types of technology, and it’s up to us to stop putting down others and making them feel less confident because they don’t look like a computer edited picture. We need to be able to see how fake things are and how the media is destroying the beauty in human …show more content…
The media needs to be aware of what they’re putting out there, and people need to realize how they’re helping them achieve their goal. These companies need to see the outcomes of their actions because they know what they’re doing but they’re to drowned in the money to see how it is hurting people. Now all social media isn’t bad, it can help you connect with family members, friends, and employers, but the serious problem is the power they give men. They have showed us that men are allowed to insult women with names like; ugly, hoe, slut, and even a bitch. Women’s confidence shouldn’t be decided by a man, but the media has made it so they do have that kind of power. The media giving this specific gender all this power makes it so women are considered less, instead of each gender being equal. You could compare the media to drugs, it’s fun at first, but then you get addicted and then it becomes harmful. The only difference is the media isn’t a substance, instead it makes men be perceived as judgemental, and demeaning, and women as weak and insecure. We as a whole need to understanding what is happening and end

The media will pick and choose which topics to discuss according to the viewer’s ratings. The news media represent the news in a manner that will leave people coming back for more. Using Satire to Convict Social Media Social media has inspired a stronger set of issues in the lives of the current youth, according to Shannon Purtle in “Why Social Media Should Be Left Alone”, specifically issues dealing with authenticity. In a time when social media is on the rise, Purtle addresses the lacking of real connections and endangerments surrounding magnified typical teenage issues caused by those programs within the lives of young Americans. As a teenager, or young adult, there is an immense amount of exposure to assimilation from one self-conscious teen to the next unsure teen. Through using satirical strategies such as an ironic tone, ridiculous and contradicting rhetoric, ironic questions and analogies to common phrases, Purtle
In today’s society, social media platforms engage their users and are able to manipulate them by making social media use the reality, influencing people to be bolder and more outgoing, and sharing
Media is a very powerful and influential tool, it has the power to alter our thoughts, opinions and beliefs. Media can be bias and can manipulate us and block’s us to see the reality. We tend to believe everything we see on our favorite TV shows, Movies or in the news. Media can influence people in both positive and negative ways. Social Media on Politics This paper will discuss the effects of social media on politics. Can social media topple governments and shape the political landscape in a sovereign state? Or is social media a tool in which the public can coordinate and share free flowing information?
Every minute, three hundred forty-seven thousand tweets are sent out to Twitter (TwitterFacts, 2013). The obsession the world has for Twitter has caused controversy because of some tweeters mistreatment, and could be argued to be a destructive app. Social Media can be used positively through expressing creativity, connecting with friends or family, and finding commonalities that can be enjoyable to look at or read about. Twitter is not an appropriate social media app for teens because is causes self image to down-spiral leading to depression and suicide, eliminating face-to-face communication, and is becoming a huge time waster. Twitter is a social media app that allows users to share what they are doing or how they are feeling with their followers.

Nowadays, social media has taken a huge place in our lives. It seems like people misunderstood the purpose of social media such as TV and computer.
