Many people find social media an excellent channel to bring forward their viewpoints and their say on many topics concerning the community in Singapore. Moreover, people have also generally become more intelligent and on the ball as their talent to extract relevant news and information has heightened. These trends have impacted the importance of civic engagement and have caused it to grow in our community today. Being aware of this, Avelife should grab hold of the opportunities to thrive by utilising the re-tweeting facility in Twitter and uploading videos onto YouTube channel. Avelife Foundation should leverage on this tendency to expand its networks and to be able to reach out to a greater group of people in Singapore. Across the globe, Singapore is among the top consumers of social media sites with Singaporeans spending more than a couple of hours in such sites each day (Aziz, 2014). People are active on social media because of the need to express themselves and their perspectives on matters that are concerning the country such as environmental issues. The interactive characteristic and visually engaging features of social medium makes this a lot easier. This is also the reason why teenagers are largely active on these platforms accounting to around thirty one percent of social media consumers in our country (“Singapore Teens’ Top Social Media Platforms Besides Facebook,” n.d.). As of now, Avelife is not active online and the only way people would be able to find out about this foundation is through its website. Avelife also has a facebook account which is however not being fully utilised as there is merely any information about their aims and vision in the about section of the page (Avelife Foundation Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), n.d.). Avelife should post information about their projects and campaigns promptly to ensure that the public remains up-to-date about Avelife’s daily operations. At other times, Avelife should share any environment-related news or interesting information on the social media channels to inject pathos into its advertising so as to engage people and also to maintain the interest of the people who are already involved in and supporting Avelife’s campaigns. For this to become possible, I recommend the organisation to post in the social media sites at least a couple of times a
