“There is no place like home. There is no place like home. There is no place like home.” The journey of four “friends” following the yellow brick road on their way to Emerald City. They go on this journey through the land of Oz and take the risks that come with it. The Wizard of Oz represents the power of friendship and on how society can affect the way we see ourselves. We are told what to wear, who to date, what to eat, who to love and how to think. Society creates this image and we all strive to fit in. In the play, Dorothy feels as if she does not belong at home, she feels unappreciated, as if she does not have a voice. The lion is scared, he is pressured to be the ˚King of the Forest’. They put this standard on him, they expect him to be brave and courageous; to live with no fear. The tin man was put a curse on by the wicked witch because he fell in love with the wrong person and her mother did not approve. This happens so often today …show more content…

So why do we make them so unrealistic? Our relationship between society is between one and it. We create the ups and downs in the relationship. In the Wizard of Oz, they resolve their problems with society. It was a bit ironic because they just gave the scarecrow a diploma and she believed that she was smart. They gave the lion a winner and he believed he was worthy enough. They gave the tin man a heart shaped watch and he believed he was able to love again. Dorothy was the only one who’s wish was granted with magic. The rest were just props to give them a boost of confidence; it was all just a con. This is sort of what life is like. It’s all a big con; we’re told that we’re not the right weight, or we don’t have the right style. Heck, we even get rejection letters telling ourselves we are not smart enough. Although, it is a person making these decisions, a stranger who is setting our standards. If we just believe and work for our goals, chances are we will be able to achieve
