People always say that softball and baseball are the same thing just one is played by girls and the other by boys. Softball and baseball may look like they are the same but they are really not. It doesn’t matter which gender plays baseball or softball but it’s usually that girls play softball and boys play baseball. The equipment used, the rules and how the field is, and the uniforms are all different.
The equipment used in softball is different than the equipment used in baseball. In softball, the players use metal bats. In baseball, they use wood bats. Carter Goldston Mr. Bergmann Sophomore english P8 10 October 2016 Baseball is the toughest sport Baseball, America’s favorite past time! Baseball has been around forever and some people do not understand how tough the sport is. First I will explain how hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports. Then I will explain how tough it is to play in the field.
Baseball pitchers have to be extremely explosive and create force to produce a good pitch. Some factors that go into a pitch would be velocity, movement, and position. There are many types of pitches that an athlete can do and follows a similar pattern but the factors change. If a pitcher wanted to throw a fastball, they would have to change the velocity of the ball but if the pitcher wanted to throw a curveball they would have to change the type of movement they do. The ultimate goal for any baseball pitcher is to get the ball into the catcher’s mitts without being interfered by the batter at home base.
Softball in the Olympics For female and male athletes alike, softball is a fun, enjoyable sport that can be played at almost any age and any skill level. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) admitted the popular sport in 1996, but eliminated it after the 2008 Olympics (Softball, n.p.). The IOC viewed the sport as too American for the Olympic stage (Associated Press, n.p.). Softball should be an Olympic sport again because it meets all requirements, is popular in most of the world, and does not have any other International competitions.
Throughout history itself the game of softball has evolved in several aspects. Just like society today the game changed to meet the new needs of its participants and spectators. Due to the changes that were being made new rules, dimensions, and regulations were constantly being added or revised. The main problem that the league faced was its dimensions and way of playing. For starters, in 1943 the mound was only 40 feet away.

A softball player has less time to react from an infield line drive (0.61 seconds) than a tennis player does from a Serena Williams serve (0.65 seconds). When fielding grounders an infielder has to get the ball to first in less than 3.2 seconds which is over a second faster than a typical MLB player can reach first. The infield has even less time to react when facing a slap hitter.
All you do is bat and ground the ball and through it to a person. You do have to run a lot. But compared to the rest of the rest of the sports baseball is the most laid back. I remember one game where I played third base and our team was so good no one got to third base so I just got to stand there and look pretty!
There isn’t a huge difference between softball and baseball other than a couple rules and the gender playing the sport. People who don’t go outside as much most likely suffer from illness. Some people can’t go outside because they have certain illnesses that won’t let them. Some people just chose not to go outside and that isn’t very healthy. It has been scientifically proven that a 95 mph fastball generates 2411 lbs of force as it crosses the plate and a softball thrown at 65mph generates even more according to youtube.com.
As I sit on my bed deciding on what to write about, I glance over at my trophy case. Glittering with golden light, my trophies remind me of all the accomplishments I have been awarded during the short span of my life. My accomplishments are mostly involving either cheerleading or softball. I have been a part of both teams for six years now, counting middle school. On the softball team I can play any position except for pitcher.
Over the years I’ve gotten stronger, faster, and overall better at softball. Four years into it and I have some great and some painful stories. I’ve learned many things about softball, but one that has stuck out to me and that also applies to life is that it can be fun.
We then watch carefully the opposing team’s pitcher as she warms up. As a lead off hitter, it is my job to do anything possible to get on base. By working the count I am frisking with the pitcher to get into her head. I then get exactly what I want, a pitch that could change the outcome of the entire game. Once I take a swing at the perfect pitch you can hear the crack of the bat forcefully pushing the ball to get a base hit.
A softball field is very simple. It has this red tinted dirt, fresh cut green grass, 4 white bases, freshly white chalked lines, and a group of girls that love the game. The softball field is so simple, but yet so beautiful to look at and play on. The cages come along with the softball field as well. The cages or even more simple than the field, all it has is a net, some turf ground, a bucket of
