The Wastelands is segregated with species from hundreds of Realm Worlds and rival nations. These uniform militias employ their home world technologies to fortify their kingdoms from feuding enemies. Ruled under a totalitarian dictatorship they often launch campaigns against neighboring kingdoms resorting to guerrilla warfare tactics. Once the kingdom is toppled the captors are systematically enslaved consequently expanding their future reign. Several are capable of traveling to their worlds through the use of Realm Portals.
Although Isis Watts may have been considered by Helen to be “Drenched in Light,” her cowardice evidenced by the way she resists her problems by running from them leads her to achieve a more tenuous grasp of what it truly means to be enlightened, whereas Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s determined and courageous approach to resisting oppression led him to achieve true greatness. Isis, although being only a child at the time her story took place, took on a very cowardly approach to the oppression she faced. Rather than resisting and fighting, she ran. The first time she ran happened when she and her family had tried to shave off her grandmother’s facial hair, and, when threatened by her grandmother’s anger, Isis was distracted by a parade going
Globally, tackling this problem will take some serious reform in the way we use fossil fuels for energy. Therefore, I have a few proposals involving the use of albedo and solar panels that should they be adopted in
As Lumic puts it, “ I will bring peace to the world. Everlasting peace and unity and uniformity” (Age of Steel). Both Lumic and his creations are emblematic of Enlightenment ideals and
My most recent mission trip to India was one of the most amazing, eye-opening experiences that demonstrates how unjust and fleeting life can be. Despite the harsh reality of this country, my mission was crystal clear, so I simply approached my task, one day at a time, preparing meals for an orphanage and working with the local NGO to gather necessary supplies for various
In the article, Hope Beneath Our Feet, edited by Martin Keogh, expresses all the tension that we face about where our world has come to. The world of today is highly advanced, allowing individuals to lead whatever life they so choose. Some humans, however, are not as fortunate. Billions today do not have the luxury of leading their own lives, for they barely have a biologically functional life at all to lead. Poverty, along with the lack of shelter and proper medical care, affect these unfortunate billions and cause suffering and death on a daily basis. Australian philosopher Peter Singer thereby rouses an argument calling on everyone to donate their excess and material wealth to charities in order to end this global suffering.
However, it is not difficult to improve on the issue of cost. As Faith Birol states in his paper, “The cost of providing assistance to poor countries may turn out to be far less than that of dealing with the instability and insecurity that poverty creates (Birol, p.5).” The solution to reducing the cost and making modern energy more accessible should be a combination of the local government assistance, international subsidy and the help from non-profitable and non-governmental organizations. The exact formula to solve
It is fair to say that most would not want to live in a world without electricity, but if society cannot agree on an energy to use, this imaginary world could become a very real way of life. “Citizens and community members everywhere are seeking smart solutions to our biggest problem - the ecological collapse” (“Top 10 Pros and Cons” 1). The United States’ economy has been fueled by fossil fuels since the Industrial Revolution in the 1800s. Then, the early 1900s introduced a new, versatile source, oil. Through the 1950s, most Americans viewed rapid economic growth and high consumer spending as positive trends but this prosperity was fouling air and water and damaging natural resources.

Although the scientists in the 1900s had warned the world about the shortage, many people still refuse to accept the idea that they will eventually be eventually using solar power as the only option. And each year, the debt from the consumer rate increases for every electricity company. For instance, as
After watching the video “Candles in the Sun” there are many social problems that are portrayed throughout the video not only by the images portrayed but by the lyrics as well. Miguel often refers to many religious aspects throughout his video by the lyrics the mentions in the beginning of the video. Miguel portrays this by using certain images throughout the video such as the images of women in veils and Muslim references and the Muslim practices. I believe Miguel is trying to touch base on Religious based discrimination which is a really big issue we struggle with today in our society. We look at the Muslim community differently based on their religion by what we think have been told to believe about Muslims and their religion and their beliefs.
Instead of burning fossil fuels that will be depleted within short generation, alternative energies such as the wind turbine or solar panels needs to be implemented to sustain and care for the resources that remain. The concept of reducing our Carbon footprint in the world is the more modern way of looking at sustainable living, in which the World realises humans have not used resources wisely. By looking at the changes over the past centuries, an International network of scientists have unanimously concluded that human society is altering natural functions in three fundamental ways. And consequently, they were able to define four basic conditions that must be met if we want to maintain the environmental services that sustain human society.
