Mr. president ,
We believe that one of the enormous challenges that modern world face is the environmentally safe disposal of solid wastes.
As a nation ,we have set a series of important policies on solid waste to make Brazil an eco-friendly country under the Nation Basic Sanitation Policy : law no , 11445 of 2007, National Policy on Solid Waste : law no , 12305 of 2010 . The National Policy on Waste allows agreements to be signed between the government and the business sector to achieve greater recycling targets and to enhance jobs in recycling . As for the National Policy on Solid Waste a proper waste management system was implemented for the waste emit from industries , health care , mining and public sanitation activities .

One of the modern approaches that we have initiated is “ the polluter – pays principle “ which is one of the constitutional principles to protect the environment where polluters are charged for the environmental damage caused .
Traditionally , the waste materials in Brazil are collected largely through waste pickers . Waste pickers contribute to the public health and they provide a vital service for the community and the municipalities . Therefore the National Solid Waste Policy of 2010 of Brazil recognizes waste pickers as service providers and in 2002 the Brazilian government considered waste picking as an occupation . This supported a large number of poor people to earn a living.
The urban cleaning process is performed through daily street sweepers and municipal pick up for both residential and business .Throughout the city there are bins on every corner in order to maintain a clean surrounding.
Due to the enacted laws many cities in Brazil like Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo have marked significant progress in waste management in recent years . They have improved landfills and recycling rates

We’re happy to mention that the first Waste to Energy plant was constructed in Rio de Janeiro . We succeeded in building another Waste to Energy plant in Sao Paulo which generates electricity from the gases emit by landfills.
The National Solid Waste policy aims to foster the growth in the waste management in Brazil . It includes economic incentives to solve issues related to waste management in Brazil .It recognizes the economic benefits of reuse , and recycling of waste , creates economic and credit instruments focused of encouraging investment in sustainable waste management ,encourage the development of new business in the sector and supports co operation and partnership between public and private sector.
Further , we’re looking forward to improve the standard of the waste management in certain means . As a result the world bank has approved US $ 50 million loan for the “Integrated Solid Waste Management and Carbon Finance Project “ which will help to minimize the pollution , greenhouse gas emissions and health hazards regarding unsustainable solid waste disposal
The city is filthy no matter how hard the cleaners try to keep the city
The trash management plant also generates lots of smoke. The smoke is absorbed by the energy management section of the plant. Machines in this plant take the smoke and convert it all into energy. As stated, Even though waste management takes up vast amounts of energy, Red city is a city with definitely enough energy to cover for the waste management, and produces lots of it
Sanitation was lacking in London during this time. London did not have a functional sewage system, human waste gathered in basement cesspool, flushed into rivers, or thrown in the street. The result of poor sanitation led to the contamination of
But our waste problem is not the fault only of producers. It is the fault of an economy that is wasteful from top to bottom a symbiosis of an unlimited greed at the top and a lazy, passive, and self-indulgent consumptiveness at the bottom and all of us are involved in it. If we wish to correct this economy, we must be careful to understand and to demonstrate how much waste of human life is involved in our waste of the material goods of
In Wendell Berry’s “Waste” the author argues that the centralization of industries is the reason for the wastefulness of the people in the US. Since these industries are centralized we are forced to buy food from places filled with plastics and mass produced foods. In the essay Wendell Berry uses logos in order to convey the message that both corporations and people in the US play an equal role in the creation of waste. In the essay,Berry is able to use clear reasoning in able to develop the cause and effect relationship found in this article.
The title of the portraits, Pictures of Garbage, does not suggest that Vik Muniz is depicting the subjects of his photographs as trash; however, by creating them out of trash, the title and medium allows society to view the Catadores’ of the Jardim Gramacho economic status and place in the community. The documentary Wasteland is about how Vik Muniz returned to his native home Sao Paolo, Brazil. Muniz goes to the largest trash dump in the South America, located outside the city of Rio de Janerio, where he meets many of the locals that recycle and collect trash there. Vik Muniz came to Rio de Janerio to take the lives of the people he met there and make portraits of them like he did the Sugar Children. The Sugar Children were the children of
Id. Because of the vast population of people living in these cities, any mismanagement of the waste could lead to catastrophic results. Further, without a holistic system in place in these cities, the system could be abused, manipulated, and exploited. But by running the only facilities in these cities, the state can effectively manage the system for the benefit of all.
How Brazil became the world leader in reducing environmental degradation. In the 1990s, when an area of Brazilian rainforest the size of Belgium has fallen every year in the Amazon, people would think that they could make so much money from clearing the forest that they would go on cutting them down. But I disagree on the statement about cutting down the trees because they mean so much to us and the animals that live in the rainforest. We get some benefits like food, for example bananas, avocados, coffee, spices as in cinnamon and pepper, Brazil nuts, and cashew. You can also get products from the Amazon like shampoo, medicine which the Amazon also provides, we also need moisture so when your skin gets dry, you can use lotion.
Meanwhile, the methods of waste disposal have improved over time. Also, that getting rid of garbage is quickly becoming a big problem due to our methods of waste disposal are only a temporary solution. Moreover; the waste that can’t decompose
Environmental racism or discrimination is placing low income families in polluted areas. In 1970, the Mothers of East Los Angeles and Chicago’s People for Community Recovery, sensed that there was an unbalance of forcing minorities and the poor to toxic surroundings. This treatment has been around for years now starting with it being one of the premier civil rights and environmental issues in the year 1990. (Boerner, 1995). There was an evident link between the poor and minorities being forced to reside in contaminated space.

Industrial and capital hubs in developing countries are similarly characterized by multiple urban sprawls, informal settlements and overcrowding. The local governments or municipalities in many developing countries are highly challenged by mainly poor or weak policy and legislative provisions to regulate and enforce waste management guidelines. They also lack adequate funding and the correct capacity in terms of waste management personnel. All these challenges lead to situations where these local authorities are failing to take effective decisions with regards to solid waste management. It is worth noting that the decisions which municipalities are facing in terms of managing solid waste are not only difficult and capital intensive but they impact greatly on the natural environment as well as on social lives of people, therefore solutions to this issue are a matter of
Introduction People tend to consume a lot, when there is consumption, there is waste – and that waste becomes a big problem that needs taken care of, which costs a lot of time, space and resources. If not managed, in turn, the world that we live in will become a hazardous place for all living things. According to the World Bank, people throughout the world, “spend $2.3 trillion a year on food and beverages alone” (Global Consumption Database, 2018), that is quite a lot. In addition to that, the world count mentions that, “we throw out over 50 tons of household waste every second. A number that will double by 2030”
The deterrent effects of tort law usually appear in the reduced pollution discharge, improved environmental quality, or the introduction of environmental factors into the decision making process of polluting organizations. The US and Canada expanded the liability for the hazardous waste in the early 1980s which led to the increased care in the disposal of such wastes. Environmental tort law supports the principles of “prevention, protection, conservation, and deterrence”. The fact that tort law focuses on the distributive justice and deterrence makes it a lucrative topic of discussion among the scholars of economics and law.
