The artist that wrote the song for my music project is called song Simani. I thought I’d tell you about the artist first so you could get a bit of backstory on the song “Music and Friends” or any other songs you have heard by Simani. Simani is a duo band (two members) who focus their music on their Newfoundland and Labrador culture that they were raised in. The band had come together in 1977 with members Bud Davidge and Sim Savory. Sim was a kind hardworking man who never gave up through all the struggles in his life.
SOULS OF SONG TRA BONG Sitting on our mama’s lap, we’ve always heard stories of people who’ve had hard times in their lives; first of those who had to fight with a monster just because they didn’t listen to their parents, then as we grew up, those who had to leave school to save the world from those with malevolent intentions. But at the end, a story was a story, and those people killed the monsters, never did something without their parents’ approval, and turned back to school to get a master’s degree; just to convince us kids that everything that was in a story was the right thing to do to, and the characters we read, were heroes that would never make mistakes. Growing up this way, I had an implicit assumption that a character had to show heroic behaviors to have an impact on me.
The story Sweetheart of The Song Tra Bong by Tim O’Brien is about the decline of human innocence. Throughout our lives we face many changes whether it be by choice or by the environment we are surrounded in. Although change can be good it can also decrease the morale of those around you. Mary Anne is the face of such a change that will make brave men cower in fear; her change signifies a falling of the most beautiful of angels, the epitome of light but who has been seduced by the hatred and darkness.

Sometimes I feel like Bilbo Baggins. I’m awfully short (5’1” thank you very much), drawn towards shiny objects, and love a good adventure. The biggest difference between Bilbo and I is that we come from different worlds. Oh, and I’m not a hobbit. But even though my world may not have warlocks or dragons or dwarves, it is pretty amazing.
“The end is nothing, the road is all.” Once said Willa Cather. What seems like a simple quote, may have much meaning. People are always contemplate on what the end will look like, where your life may be at, what situation you may end up in, etc. May be your thoughts shouldn’t be on what the end looks like, but focusing more on how you got there, and how well you have lived your life.
What is your main opinion on this topic? I believe that guitar is a fun instrument to play. What is the strongest argument that supports your opinion?
I’ve had many experiences that changed my life and my outlook on life. Even though things were hard for me, I never quit trying and I always kept moving forward with life. There were some things that I never overcome, but eventually I did. Situations such as deaths, injuries, and incarceration have always been around me ever since I was just a little boy. Those situations made me who I am today is which is an intelligent and hardworking person.
