She studied philosophy from Drake University in Des Moines. She had always the hopes to be a writer one day. After the graduation, she began to write for news in 1899. She was a journalist but at the same time she was writing short stories. In 1912, she gathered her stories and published these stories “Lifted Masks”.
She went to Edinburgh University and got married soon after graduation. It was while she was home with her first baby that she decided to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming her writer. Currently known as one of the best poets of all time, Emily Dickinson grew up in Amherst, Massachusetts also the place where she was born and went to school. Born In 1830 and passed away in 1886, her poem ‘I felt a Funeral, in my Brain’ is published in 1896 which raises the question, how come her poetry is published after her death? Dickinson had an older sibling who found all her literature and published it, although her father decided to take her out of school she was recognized as a prodigious student in Amherst college. Her teenage years is when she had a spark in interest to start writing. Noticeably, Dickinson’s literature became immensely popular in North America and the European countries.
She soon realized that she had a passion for learning. Dorothea being the oldest of three children ran her household at a every young age. She also began to teach some of her siblings how to read and write. When she was just 12 years old Dorothea ran away from home to her wealthy grandmother’s house in Boston and then soon after moved to her aunts home in Worcester Massachusetts. Rainbow Rowell, and yes that’s her real name, is the author of many young adult fiction books. Born in Omaha Nebraska, on February 24th, 1973, Rowell loves writing about people who talk, who have a story to tell; screw ups and falling in love are two main themes that follow her writing (RainbowRowell.com). Rowell has been writing from a young age, she was a columnist in her high school newspaper. Before becoming a author, Rowell from 1995 to 2012 was a columnist and ad copywriter at Omaha World-Herald, when writing her first published book, Attachments, she began working for an ad agency. Her experience as a newspaper editor made her realize that she never really wrote for herself, she wrote for her editors, publishers and a broad audience ( 2011 AViD Presentation).

As she, according to bio., Emily Bronte, lived from 1818 to 1848, in Yorkshire, United Kingdom, she wrote poems and novels under her and her sisters: Charlotte and Anne Bronte’s pseudonym “Ellis Bell”. In her only published novel, Wuthering Heights, Emily Bronte authored the narration of two families: Earnshaws and Linton to cognizance their decisions and their motives at Thrushcross Grange. Through Mr. Lockwood and Nelly Dean’s narration, as well as Catherine Earnshaw’s diary entries, she composed a plot of two falling deeply in love but never marrying. Although the novel
“M & L” by Sarah Kokernot is a short story featured in The Best American Short Stories. Kokernot was born in Kentucky and received a Master of Fine Arts in creative writing from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She is a writer of various short stories and is presently working on her first novel. “M & L” tells the story from the point of view of Miriam and Liam – two good friends; one of which has a past trauma. As I read the story, it was difficult to stay focused on the main plot because of the depth of detail the author provides.
JOURNAL # 1 CHARACTER DEVELOPMET: SKEETER The novel that I read throughout this quarter was ' 'The Help ' ' by Kathryn Stocket. Character development took place in many different characters in different ways. The Character that is seen to develop the most throughout the novel is Miss Skeeter Pheelan. Skeeter is seen to develop in two different ways: a young woman who doesn 't have marriage as a first priority anymore and a woman who later sees an injustice to the black help. Skeeter is a white socialite who just graduated from college with a degree in writing.

Later, in his twenties, he attended the Royal Academy of Arts in London where he had the opportunity to get formal training and annual exhibitions (Krueger, 2003). Blake, as a professional engraver, led a print shop with his wife Catherine where he had introduced a revolutionary engraving technique called relief etching. Blake used it for the first time in his collection of poems for children, Songs of Innocence in 1789, and in the expanded collection Songs of Innocence and Experience five years later in which he presented his talented illustrations incorporated with lyrical poems intended to change the world. Some of Ginsberg’s famous work includes “Howl,” which was the significant start off to his career, and “Kaddish” which is written based on the life and death of his mother as she spent most of her adult life with a mental illness. Before his career began, he wrote poems throughout high school that was inspired by the famous poet, Walt Whitman. After graduating high school on June 8, 1943, he continued his education by studying at Columbia University and graduated from there in 1948. Mary Shelley was born in the heart London, England on August 30, 1797, into an artistic family. Shelley 's mom, Mary (Same name), kicked out not long after the other Marry was born. Mary was raised by her dad, William Godwin, the creator of “Enquiry Concerning Political Justice”. William and his family were frequently encompassed by successful writers and poets, for example, Thomas Paine, William Blake, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, etc. As a child, Mary Shelley read a lot of books and absorbed the discussions of savvy people that her dad brought around the family.
