Ken Carter is also intrinsically motivated because he wants to make a difference at Richmond High and help the students so that they can have a bright future ahead of them. Carter had an intrinsic motivation because he truthfully cared about his job and his players. Carter worried more about motivating his team to achieve their goals, than gaining external rewards. Carter doesn’t pressure them into winning however he does make it clear that he expects them to perform better than the previous season.
Odysseus was told to be a brave and smart warrior in the Trojan War. He has a strategic mindset, a determination to return home, and the ability to be a convincing speaker. Greek Societal Expectations From an early age, boys are taught about their expectations in society; they are taught to be polite, to get a stable job, and to provide for their family, among others. In ancient Greek society, men were taught similar beliefs. The hero Odysseus must live up to the expectations pushed onto him beginning from when he was born. In The Odyssey by Homer, Odysseus proves to be a great leader and proves that he can fulfill the expectations of Greek society in various ways. Odysseus is always quick to a plan and always has his wits about him.

At one point in everyone’s life, someone has to step up and lead a group to victory. In Orson Scott Card 's book, Ender’s Game, people depended on Ender to be the best leader the Fleet ever had in order to defeat the enemy, the Buggers. Ender was a good leader because he knows who he was fighting with and against, he trained and pushed his army to the limit, and he was smart and caring but also hostile at times. One way Ender was a good leader is by knowing who he was working with and against. When Ender first got his army after he became a commander, he trained with them and later he “wrote down his impression of each of the boys in the army, the things he notice right about them, the things that needed more work,” (Card 168).

Competitiveness was encouraged between the siblings and was a healthy. Although Jack’s sickly childhood held him back as a child, he was able to find ways to use his abilities to his advantage.
