Jared Snow Ms. Carrell English 1 AP 9/15/15 Water Contamination Water pollution is any chemical, physical, or biological change in the quality of water that has a harmful effect on any living thing that drinks it, uses it or lives in it. I have spent many hours of many days to research this topic to find out facts of water pollution and how to prevent it. According to Food and Water Watch there are over 780 million people all over the earth that are living without clean drinking water. Another fact is every 20 seconds a child under five years old dies from illnesses that are waterborne. There is a lot of information about water contamination, the main topics are, effects of the percentage of water contaminated, ways it gets contaminated, and what to do in the after-math.
Water is a necessity for all life on Earth, yet it is one of the most threatened vital resources in the world. “Water pollution is any contamination of water with chemicals or other foreign substances” (Water Pollution). From automobile fluids that seep into sewage systems to household products that are usually poured down sinks, all these items can contribute to the destruction of the environment. However, these items have a common denominator: humans. Not enough people are aware of the dangerous effects that water pollution has towards the environment and what causes it.
Content. Definition of water pollution. Water pollution is defined as the water contamination due to the direct or indirect pollutant that were discharge into river and contamination of the chemical that was not properly treated to remove harmful compound. Factors that cause water pollutions. There are several factors that causes the water pollution such as the non-point source, point source, rubbish dumping, industrial waste, and ballast water tank.
The water pollution in environment can be occurs in different ways. There are two main type of sources water pollution which are point source and non-point source. A point source is the release of pollutant comes from a single source or specific source and also identifiable of site. For example,a waste disposal pipe or a chimney that blow over by a factory. This industrial wastes are commonly discharged to rivers and the coastal area in this way.
Atmospheric pollution is caused by pollutants such as smoke from factories entering the atmosphere and being carried to waterways. Industrial waste can also create polluted runoff that collects in rivers and lakes. Another reason for water pollution is chemically treated sewage. This water carries harmful chemicals and high amounts of bacteria, which can potentially lead to serious diseases. Runoff from fields can contain chemical fertilizers and pesticides which can pollute
Well, as far as I know, pollution means something in nature becomes dirty or worse. Well there are many types of pollution, example, water pollution, sound pollution, and air pollution. Today let me be specific about water pollution. Water is very essential to us. We need at least 70% of water in our body to live.
Sisk 1 Kylie Sisk Eng1101 Burns 10/26/14 Water Pollution The world’s biggest health risk continues to enforce both public health and quality of life; that is what we call dirty water or water pollution. Water pollution is a huge problem these days and human activity is the main effect. People need to start taking action in what they do and start protecting our bodies of water. Some people don’t realize when pollution is being caused because they don’t realize what they do every day, causes it. Driving cars, using fertilizers, not cleaning septic tanks, and coal-fired power plants are some examples on what causes water pollution.
It fills lakes and obstructs shipping channels, clogs hydroelectric turbines, and makes drinking water purification costlier. Besides air pollution, there is also water pollution which is also caused by many variants causing more health issues to drinking supplies. Today people oppose this argument by saying that water pollution is easily not harmful to the environment. This is not true because today because many countries have water problems due to low water sources caused by trash and erosion. Water pollution is also another harmful type of pollution that should be cleaned to better the water in the
Water Pollution Water is said to be the cause of the earth. We can say that it is the lifeline of our ecological existence. But the precious gift of the nature which comprises of 70% of the earths surface is not that pure now. Day by day the quality of water is deteriorating and becoming unfit for human consumption. Like air pollution, water pollution can also be described to mean the adverse change in composition or condition of the water such that it becomes less suitable.
Intro: Water pollution has caused so many problems to our waterways that no one really knows how to help. Water pollution caused; dead zones, oil spills, garbage floating around, and unsafe drinking water. People disagree about water pollution because, people have found ways to improve and help out the problem that water pollution has caused around the world. Others believe that that water pollution has created situations and are in the process of figuring out solutions. Marine life habitats are getting destroyed, marine life is declining everyday, how and where the garbage is getting into the oceans, and the drinking water is becoming seriously unsafe to drink.
