A very good morning to ladies and gentlemen. On this glorious morning, I, Goh Sher Li who was a student from Bachelor Degree in Marketing Year 1 in Tunku Abdul Rahman University College would like to thank the lecturer for giving me this opportunity to share about “fear”. In my speech, I am going to share with you what is “fear” and my experience of “fear”. "Fear" is one of the selections of my coursework topic. I still remember that day I first saw it in the lecture hall although just a few second, it just like a black hold attract me and made me have impulse to choose it as my topic although I have no idea for this topic at that moment. After I found that there was not many people chosen this topic, I have been considering to change the topic in that moment because it seem like difficult and other topic seem like more interesting and easier. "Fear" can use as a noun or a verb. According to the online Oxford dictionaries "fear" can define as an unpleasant feeling of a person that cause by belief someone or something is dangerous, painful or threatening (Press, 2016). Furthermore, fear also is a basic human emotion even can considered as a simple feeling according to psychology (Anon., n.d.). However, in my view, fear is a kind of feeling or emotion that creates by your own self when you are facing someone or something. There was an interesting story that makes me more stick to my view. In his book, The Culture of Fear, Barry Glassner covers the methods and shortcomings of the television and print media and their motives when reporting crimes. Glassner respects our basic understanding that specific crimes are often sensationalized. He explains how the murder of a young Gulf War combat veteran upon returning home was used to turn the public’s attention towards violent crime in America. Unfortunately the young veterans’ death was actually a planned murder for insurance money, which the media neglected to mention. March 17, 2023 Dear Readers, Fear. Fear is defined as being afraid of someone or something that is likely to be dangerous, painful or threatening. Should you fear your family? Should you fear your own brother?
Humans are born to be afraid. A feeling of fear is only natural for humans to feel; it is a part of who we are. However, it can be more than just a feeling. Fear can be a weakness in humans even though it is only our natural instinct for survival. Sometimes, fear is so powerful that it can blur our rationality and dominate how we think and what we do.
Is fear the only thing to fear? Maybe it is, maybe it is not. Fear is a strong emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous, likely to cause pain, or a threat. Some people use fear to control the people around them. Someone that uses fear to control others is called a demagogue.
The Fear of Reality Fear dominates various aspects of life. It can elicit physiological and emotional responses that greatly influence an individual’s reaction. For example, fear can cause an individual to experience an adrenaline rush that gives someone an extra burst of energy to lift a car or quickly flee from a situation. Fear can also cripple an individual by producing intense feelings of anxiety and nervousness.
To start off, fear is a primal instinct that all animals feel, including humans. Fear usually is not fun for most people because we feel like there is an impeding doom about to come crashing down. The current President of The United States and past one tried to decrease our fear, but some people have more to be concerned about. These people are usually the poor. The past President I am speaking of is Franklin Roosevelt and his speech that helped decrease the people 's fear was “The Four Freedoms”.

Indeed, it ranges from the loss of rationality to the capacity of adaptation in extreme conditions. Thus, fear can be perceived as a weapon to control and manipulate society.

Fear is what you make of it because nothing is inherently scary it is what you take from the object or experience that makes it scary and fills your head with fear. This can have an effect on society and how people and their respective governments react to types of issues and problems. This leads to in extreme cases war and mass murder of a society that is being exploited as a scapegoat. In the book Lord of the Flies the author William Golding suggest the impact fear has on human nature and how it disrupts order and disorder in a society.
In the end, he overcomes the fear, challenges, and tasks to reveal his treasure. Islamophobia. A serious, distressing issue in our world. It is supposedly prejudiced against Islam or Muslims, but is it really? Every terrorist attack caused by any bearded man of colour is known as “Islamic terrorism” but if the attack is caused by a white man, he suddenly becomes “mentally unstable”.
Fear is not real. It is the product of thoughts you create. Danger is very real, but fear is a choice. In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game” the main character Rainsford is being hunted which creates fear in him. He is scared of dying but overcame his fear by facing the danger of the hunting game.
Fear can be very advantageous when it comes to surviving. Fear inhibits you from doing risky actions that can put you and others in danger; it keeps you cautious and careful. Even though fear helps you when surviving, fear can harm you in life. Fear can cause paranoia that keeps you from enjoying life. You start to obsess over minimal things leading to hallucination.
Fear can drive action in many different ways. Actions all have consequences whether they are good or bad depend on how you execute said action. Although some people believe fear doesn 't affect actions, actually be described as a weakness, a nightmare, stories, or one event leading to the next. For example, in walker 's essay fear can be described as a weakness or some kind of object you shouldn 't encounter.
Have you ever been hostile towards, feared or distrusted people of other cultures, regions, religions or colour, that is, in all, been belligerent towards people who are foreign? Have you laughed or found humour in the prejudiced or abusive comments passed on foreign people? Well, then you suffer from an uncured and fatal disease-Xenophobia! According to the dictionary definition, Xenophobia is the unreasonable fear or hatred of strangers or foreigners or of that which is strange or foreign. It is a combination of the word ‘xeno’ (foreigner) – which originated in Greece and ‘phobia’ (fear).
