God made the earth and everything on this planet in six days and on the third day he made all the fruit bearing trees, flowers, seed and all types of flora. Being a creationist, I believe that God blessed the earth and its creatures with all sorts of forests that have been the habitat of all sorts of fauna. Earth treasures a diverse variety of forests that are mystical in their own ways. There are many types of forests namely the rain forests, tropical forests, coniferous forests, mangrove forests, etc. These forests are important for our survival as they are not only a natural home for many animals but also crucial for maintaining the average temperature of the planet and checking carbon dioxide levels which have been increasing to a disturbing level. With the Homo sapiens expanding their territory, the existence of many such significant forests is becoming a concern. We have on this earth some of the largest and densest forests, of which some are those which haven’t even been stepped upon yet by humans and God only knows what mysteries they have concealed in them.

A cloud forest is also called a fog forest and is characterized by a persistent cloud cover usually at the canopy level. It is a lowland rain forest with 15-17 percent of the world’s plant species and 20 percent of bird species. It is ranked at the fourth position in avian diversity with its magnificent number of about 1500 species of birds. Its survival is in question because of the increasing deforestation rates and it is said that these forests will completely vanish within the next 30 years. These forests are home to many species like Spectacled Bear, Jaguar, Sloth, Howler Monkey, puma,
Not only did the trees provide the area with beauty, but the animals needed them to survive. When the Onceler cut down the trees, he destroyed their food source and habitats, forcing
There are many unexplained mysteries across the globe that scientists may never be able to solve, including that of the unique trees in a forest, often referred to as the "Crooked Forest," in Poland. The Crooked Forest is a group of bent pine trees located near Nowe Czarnowo in Poland, and many feel that it is one of the scariest places in Central Europe. The trees that make up the forest were planted in the 1930s, and 10 years later, they mysteriously bent. What is even more strange is that each of the trees is bent from the base at a 90 degree angle.
By their very nature, they embody beauty. But they also pulse with energy and resilience. Tough and resourceful, they battle difficult odds and often win. By a long shot, they outlast humans” (Richard Powers, Gale Literature). Even though trees are living things just like humans, they’re treated differently because of the lack of life
There cannot be an ecosystem or environment without some form of diversity. Forests that dominantly had only one type of tree are hugely in danger of destruction. This destruction will not come from human hands, but from nature itself, as diseases can easily devastate the environment. With diversity, the system can remain healthy for if one type of plant is wiped out, there are many others to take its place and fill the gap.
The effect of reduced forest size has already had a measurable impact on the composition of our atmosphere in the relatively short amount of time we have been cutting them down(6). Ironically however it is the conversion of forest land to urban and agriculture use that has a more permanent and detrimental impact. Logging and urbanization lead to forest succession. Forest succession happens when there are changes to an environment that causes the composition of plant and animal species to change. New species succeed the existing ones as a result of things like changes in amount of shade, temperature, or the introduction of foreign species.
The land created by author John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, Middle-Earth, has an abundance of trees. Trees fill much of the maps of Middle-Earth, from vast, sprawling forests to single trees or small groves throughout the entire land. There are solitary trees, and trees that can walk, talk, reason, and feel emotion. Some of the trees in Middle-Earth act apathetic, mindless or cruel, while others present themselves as kind and powerful. However, the trees that are called cruel, and even evil are not inherently bad.
The ecosystem that I found to be the most interesting is the Daintree Rainforest. This rainforest is estimated to be 180 million years old and has a very fascinating and distinctive land. The Daintree Rainforest is a tropical rainforest that is located on the north east coast of Queensland, Australia; taking up a total of 0.1 percent of Australia’s land mass. The Daintree Rainforest is the oldest existing tropical rainforest in the world and the biggest rainforest located in Australia, it is a total of over 1,200 square kilometers in size. This forest got its famous name from a man named Richard Daintree, a 19th century Australian geologist and photographer.
The first redwood conservation group to drive the movement was the Sempervirens Club in 1900, which fought to preserve redwood predominantly in San Jose and the rest of Southern California. Later, in 1918, the Save-the-Redwoods League was established and took charge of the redwood conservation movement in Northern California. From the very beginning, however, various women’s clubs and organizations both helped the Sempervirens Club and Save-the-Redwoods League as well as campaigned actively for the tree’s preservation. Both in San Jose and Humboldt County of Northern California, women were key in the success of the movement. Thanks to the various redwood conservation groups and their interactions with women’s conservation clubs and groups,
In A.S Byatt’s “The Thing in the Forest”, the author uses the elements of a short story to craft a dark, mature fairytale. The title of the story, “The Thing in the Forest”, in the sense that it foreshadows the main idea of the story. The audience expects more than just a "thing", as listed in the title. Byatt emphasizes through figurative language that the main characters, Penny and Primrose, are dealing with more than just a creature in the forest that affected them for the rest of their lives, and that with this use of symbols to express a larger meaning to objects in the story. A.S Byatt emphasizes more on plot and setting, characters, theme and symbols.
Introduction: Description: Deforestation is defined as the permanent destruction of forests in order to make land available for other uses. According to the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations (FAO) 18 million acres of forest are lost each year. This equals to approximately 36 football fields of forest being cleared each minute. Though deforestation occurs all over the world, it’s the tropical forests which are being particularly targeted. Due to this countries such as Indonesia, Brazil, the Democratic republic of Congo and Thailand have a very
Deforestation: Good or Bad? By Tristan McDermott (Final Copy) Deforestation is a controversial environmental issue, with some people believing that it is necessary to cut down trees to make room for things such as buildings and roads, while others believe that it is bad because it is destroying the environment. I believe that deforestation, while it does have a few positive effects, mainly has negative effects that massively outweigh the positive effects. According to an article written by National Geographic, (https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/global-warming/deforestation/) deforestation is a major contributor to global warming: “Trees also play a critical role in absorbing the greenhouse gases that fuel global warming.
In his video Ea says that the trees will continue to be mowed down simply to produce paper and money. Moreover, trees possess the ability to provide most living creature with the air they need to survive. In addition, they also provide the key to cures and aid in the fight against pollution, but they can’t do that when they are dead. Ea states that the Native Americans took care of the Earth in behalf of their grandchildren. Not to mention after Columbus came to America this positive mindset changed Europeans infected the natives and took their land.
With deforestation being one of these roles because when we chop down these trees and plants of where animals habitats our it also releases a lot of carbon dioxide into the air. And if you didn’t know forests are major carbon storage centers, when deforestation happens all the carbon dioxide that is stored in these forests; is released back into the atmosphere. Deforestation not only contributes to changes in the climate, it also causes localized changes in the weather. Trees transpire, or release water into the atmosphere, during photosynthesis. This water replenishes clouds and maintains rainfall.
• Mughal rulers contributed by way of magnificent gardens, bountiful orchards and pleasure parks. However, though they spent a large time enjoying nature, they did not make great efforts in the direction of natural forest cover conservation. British Era The British colonialism undoubtedly brought about a depletion of India’s rich natural resource. This was in line with the Judeo Christian Principle that all resources & nature belonged to men and were meant for the exclusive use & benefit of the human species alone.
Sustainable forest management requires three major criteria which are the maintenance of ecological processes within the forest (soil formation, energy flow, biogeochemical cycles (carbon, nutrient and hydrological cycles), maintenance of biodiversity of forest, improving the net social benefits derived from the mixture of forest uses within the constraints by considering the future. Forest provides habitats for more than half of the fauna and flora on the Earth (SCBD, 2001). Forest biome plays an important role in mitigating climate change by serving as carbon sinks (Hassan et al., 2005). Forest land is the most fundamental natural resources which become reduced mainly due to anthropogenic pressures. For proper management of land, it is essential to have information about existing land cover and about the naturalness of the land.
