Sometimes they can prevent us from doing something stupid or reckless. Most often, however, our comfort zones are built on a belief that may or may not be true. If you've experienced a particularly painful rejection in the past, you might create a comfort zone that will prevent you from "sticking your neck out there" and being rejected again. In this case, the comfort zone itself isn't the problem. The underlying belief that you will be rejected again is the problem. Just because you've been rejected in the past does not mean you will be rejected again in the future. That particular comfort zone will cause you to act in ways that are counterproductive to your own success in life. You will dread meeting new people, getting involved in relationships or even applying for new jobs. Deep inside, part of you will be expecting to be rejected again, and you will do whatever you can to limit the possibility of that happening. Pain isn't fun to experience, and it's amazing how our minds will avoid it at all costs! …show more content…
Take a look at your life as it is right now. Are you making as much money as you'd like? Are you happy with your job? Do you love meeting new people and getting to know them? Are you able to set new goals for yourself and achieve them? If you answered yes to these questions, you probably aren't being hindered in any way by your comfort zones. If you answered no to any of these questions, you might have some issues to work through. Here is a simple way to discover if your fears are holding you back: make a list of the worst possible things you can imagine happening. What are your deepest fears? What aspects of your life don't you enjoy? And why? If you don't enjoy meeting new people, ask yourself why that is. What is the worst thing you can imagine happening regarding meeting someone new? Be honest with yourself. You don't have to show this list to
In the article, “Sometimes Pain Is a Puzzle That Can’t Be Solved”, Abigail Zuger, the author, describes her own experiences with pain along with some examples and generalizations about the feeling. She claims that she is “ruled by (her) elbow” and “it is (her) constant companion, whimpering, and tugging at (her) sleeve.” She goes on to say that many people have the same problems, especially when drugs, “like naproxen and ibuprofen” are unhelpful and “might as well be cornflakes.” Finally, she explains how far we have advanced in the medical field, but “ none of (the) knowledge has translated into new treatments,” to help people such as herself.
Everyone has experienced pain, but we all deal with it differently. Some people try to avoid experiencing pain, for they are scared; while others accept their punishment and agony. Moral people tolerate their pain and trauma by making their traumatic experience meaningful and important. They learn from their punishment and try to provide insight. In the stories of Antigone and Boycott, Letter From Birmingham Jail, righteous people fought for their beliefs without violence and dealt with their suffering without hesitation.
The human brain is made up of many things, like blood, flesh and veins, but deeper in the brain consists of one's stress, thoughts and pain. Pain comes in different ways and in different scenarios for each person and even pets, but with perseverance we can get through these painful times in our life. In the book The Call of the Wild, Buck, the main character gets shipped from owner to owner, coming out of each owners care, not in the best state of health. Often times he returns beaten and starved, but with perseverance he keeps on running and eats back to health. Much like Buck, my mom persevered. While just starting her adulthood she had a major brain surgery, which caused a lot of severe pain.

In the short story ‘Tiri’ written by Phil Kawana an idea that has changed my perspective on the story is pain. Pain is significant in understanding the main character Tiri and his actions towards people. Tiri experiences external and internal pain throughout the entirety of the story. His experiences with pain teach us how much it can control us, and lead us to make bad decisions.
Why is it that the people who care the most about you hate to see you fail? Do they feel your pain? Even though they may not physically feel what you are going through they do understand that failure is rough. They know how much it hurts to accept a loss and they understand just how bad it aches because everyone feels the all too real sting of failure.
Life should be lived to its fullest potential. There are so many joyful experiences in life as well as many sad ones. In Brian Doyle’s Joyas Volardores, Doyle explains that humans instinctively attempt to block themselves from pain. But, he says that this is not how we should live.
