All members of the community, which is governed well, have a hassle free life. Good governance is the part, nay the corner stone, an essential prerequisite, for the establishment of a welfare state. A welfare state is the ultimate goal of any community, state or government. There are several challenges to good governance. The most important and damaging of all is corruption in public life. Corruption can be defined as the misuse of entrusted power for personal benefit. Corruption has a negative effect on public service. It renders governments, unable or unwilling to maximise the welfare of the public. It distorts public servants ' decisions and limits the space available to both the public and private enterprises. ALDISS. [This is a powerful quote that communicates strongly, and in the first instance, you say what view you want to put across] Whenever we see, wherever we see, nowadays, we see waste and refuse. Waste on the roads, around buildings, on railway tracks, in parks, rivers, oceans and so on. Our people are probably used to this waste. But garbage and litter cause disgust in the mind. The serenity and aesthetic appeal of a place is lost when garbage is dumped there. Apart from this, there are several other disadvantages of garbage. Diseases spread through unscientific disposal of garbage. Garbage causes increased wear and tear of machinery in which it is stuck. Garbage eats away space and causes pollution of water and air. It is high time that as Indians, we work together in ridding our land of garbage. Waste productions are directly linked to the magnitude of civilised population. As the urbanisation increases, the population uses more and more products derived from earth 's resources. After their usage or lifespan, all these products end up as wastes. In general, they are the products derived from, agriculture, forest, marine, ore mineral
Therefore, being aware of where our trash in ending up will change the views on people’s perspective. If we are continuing to throw trash everywhere we are technically “eating our own refuse.” As we throw trash on to the floor, it will end up in the ocean causing it to get suck into the jellyfish’s mouth. Then, little fishes will begin to consume
Chapter 4 describes the horrific consequences of pre-1991 landfills. Humes writes, “Trash, sometimes with hazardous chemical waste mixed in, had been buried carelessly all over the country for decades without installing plastic barriers and other protections now deemed essential to containing landfill pollution”( 2013 p.92). Humes describes a tragic incidence near Niagara Falls, New Jersey in the 1970s. “In the 1950s, there was a residential community near Niagara Falls in New York. The community was built on what had been at one time a toxic chemical disposal site” (Humes, 2013, p.92).
Humans have become desensitized to pollution and degradation of the environment. The use of non-recyclable materials and disposing of waste irresponsibly has become something that we see every day, and we do not acknowledge as something harmful, because it does not directly affect us. However, there are both fictional and nonfictional examples of excessive use of resources and the misuse of materials that we do have, that can bring to the attention the damage that we are really causing. Two examples of this are Dr. Suess’ The Lorax, and Easter Island. Although very different, both the inhabitants of the town in the Lorax and Easter Island both contributed to degradation of the environment.
This paper is going to tell people all about an anti-littering campaign. This campaign comes from the August of 2014 campaign through the City of Toronto’s Livegreen Organization. This essay will show everyone how this advertisement uses different appeals in order to make a difference. These appeals are known as ethos, logos, and pathos. This advertisement can make a difference if used in the right way and the right places.
In her essay entitled “Garbage” from The Norton Sampler journalist Katie Kelley states that the cause of New York’s garbage problem results from the nonchalant attitude of its citizens. New Yorkers have a nonchalant attitude toward moral behavior. Kate Kelly stresses that New York in general has as a distorted view of life’s problems. Kelley writes “New Yorkers are a provincial lot. They wear their city’s accomplishment like blue ribbons.
What we need to do is recycle more. We need to keep our world clean and not full of trash. Some people just think it is alright to throw their garbage out the window of their car and think that nothing will happen. Well, that 's not true! Animals that see it think of it as food and once they get into it they may get stuck or get cut on the thing that you threw out.
Mandatory drug testing of welfare recipients would be a money saving action if more of the recipient population actually used drugs. Drug testing can make recipients turn away from drugs to get approve for assistance, but it can also have harming effects. Drug testing could have recipients turn away from assistance, punish children for their parent’s actions, and can lose money. Welfare is the financial help for families in need of finances.
For example, the corrupted people can enjoy a better life but other is still get trouble on how to live a good life. The most dangerous effect of corruption is when judiciary is corrupted. Development, justice and civil society are based on law and justice, but in developing countries corrupted people uses law to justify their illegal behaviors. Otherwise, there are many cases that government officials cooperate with mafia in other developing countries.
Corruption occurs in a government when politicians are bought out by private companies. These companies would pay the politicians large sums of money and in return, the politicians would do political favors for the companies. According
I am writing to express my concern regarding the visible amount of trash in our neighborhood. The surroundings of Dentonia Park and all the way to the Golf Club are filled with pieces of paper, cans, broken toys, packages and all the sort of unwanted objects on the grass, ruining the pleasant experience of walking in the park with the children. It is a duty of each citizen to preserve the city and it is not excusable to throw away garbage on the streets, however, a few measures could serve as friendly reminders of a person’s obligation. There is a lack of garbage bins in the park and on the sidewalks and this could be one of the reasons of why people are disrespecting the environment. If there is plenty of places to dispose the garbage properly,
Nowadays debris is an integral part of humanity life. Mankind thinks about how to make the product easier and cheaper to use, but nobody cares what happens with waste after it was used. We contaminate the environment with every decade increasingly: muddied air and water, global warming are an output of human life. The worst thing is that from such attitude other living beings are dying. Millions of animals and birds cannot withstand such environmental changes; their populations become smaller and, eventually, disappear altogether from the face of the earth.
Under welfare state, the government provides social services that aid the disabled, unemployed and the poor by taxing citizens. By establishing equality under the law, it will not allow anyone to be above the law and therefore, they all must follow the same laws. Although there are different types of governments, they all share the first two main purposes of government except for the third purpose since not all government promote equality. As humans, we want order and need an authority to
There can be numerous positive points for not wasting food which is described throughout the articles. Food is necessary because it helps a person nourish and grow. When all the wasted food goes to the garbage it gets ravaged and gets put in landfills. Even though, you cannot live without food it is not ok to have an excess amount of food. “U.S. throws away half of all food produce” By Suzanne Goldenberg, “How Norway is selling out-of-date food to help tackle waste” By Daniel Boffey and, “Ending world hunger by stopping food waste in the fields” By Bjorn Lomborg all analyze how food waste is not good for anyone or anybody.
Linguistically, the word “corruption” when it used as an adjective it means utterly broken. In a general definition, it is the abuse of using public power on illegal targets or sometimes for personal gain or benefits by the governmental employees. There are many forms of political corruption. The most common are
Industrial and capital hubs in developing countries are similarly characterized by multiple urban sprawls, informal settlements and overcrowding. The local governments or municipalities in many developing countries are highly challenged by mainly poor or weak policy and legislative provisions to regulate and enforce waste management guidelines. They also lack adequate funding and the correct capacity in terms of waste management personnel. All these challenges lead to situations where these local authorities are failing to take effective decisions with regards to solid waste management. It is worth noting that the decisions which municipalities are facing in terms of managing solid waste are not only difficult and capital intensive but they impact greatly on the natural environment as well as on social lives of people, therefore solutions to this issue are a matter of
