Corruption is a very common word we hear very often in our daily lives and being an Indian it’s a routine. Corruption simply means any deeds done which are against rules and regulations or which hurt people directly or indirectly. We are so used to corruption that it has become a part of our conduct somewhere or the other. Right from the birth of a child where practices like child sex determination are rampant in major parts of rural India for which people are asked a fee for the same – which is a type of corruption. This continues throughout this child’s life till his demise and even though he didn’t even knew what corruption is but he/she was forced to practice by this world way before its birth.

Where does the journey begin? In my opinion, the role of youth in the fight against corruption should happen at two levels. One, at their personal level and secondly, their professional level. It is up to the youth to look up for the role models and derive inspiration and keep their heads high. They should have higher ideals in life which goes beyond the self-centred boundary and the precinct of the narrow mind. The higher the goal, the greater the potency in action and fruitful results rather than those of lower ideals towards accumulation of wealth and indulgence in earthly pleasure. This is the first and foremost step the youth has to take in the fight against corruption at their personal level. Integrity is the most important part of this battle against corruption. Integrity means not just to be united and to have high moral principles, but also the key to the growth of our nation, the ability to make ethical judgements in the face of diversity, to be united as a nation in spite of being faced by thousands of differences, to uphold the ideals of morality taught to us, to be the change and to be nothing less than oneself and find pride in it.
