Incredible India! What is so incredible about my India? Is there more to us Indians other than brown skin; thick, long, black hair; and chocolaty eyes? Here I am to answer your questions; to tell you all about my beloved country, about our culture, our lifestyle… All about us! At almost every door step, one will see the ‘Swastik’ (a holy cross), a symbol of Lord Ganesha, the God of good beginnings. Alongside, there will be the sacred words ‘shubh’ and ‘labh’, which are the names of Lord Ganesha’s sons. This is a notion to please Lord Ganesha and Goddess Lakshmi, who are believed to bring prosperity. Hanging in a corner, may be a black string with few green chilies and one lemon at the bottom. This is the Indian way to keep away all evil from the house. And don’t be surprised if you see few pairs of shoes outside the house! When we visit our folk, shoes are always removed outside, preventing the dirt from soiling the home. On the door frame, there are ‘torans’ hung; usually made of marigold flowers and mango. They are hung as a welcoming gesture for the goddess of wealth, lakshmiji. They are there, also, to give a warm and friendly welcome to guests. Oh my, and having food at someone else’s house… You will definitely over-eat. We make sure that our guests are taken care of as kings. Guests are almost spoon fed, beyond their limits! “Atithi devo bhava” is strongly believed in (it means; the guest is equivalent to God). Anyone is welcome at our doorsteps! The needs and
Fortunately, there were not many other guests. Blanche took one room with the kids, and we slept in the other room in one single bed, almost like camping out. The next morning we woke and went to the lobby for breakfast. I looked at the menu and was aghast at the prices.
It is after 100 years of progress and social reform that I am here today, honoring writings of a muckraker from the 1800’s. Thank you all for being here today at the 100th Anniversary celebration to commemorate the bold and rebellious Susan B. Anthony. While creating a revolution when it comes to women’s voting rights, she also made a huge movement when it came to the abolishment of slavery in the United States. In 1848, Susan B. Anthony became a teacher in New York, and became involved in the teacher’s union when she discovered that male teachers had a monthly salary of about $10.00, while most of the other female teachers earned around $3.00 a month.

I am here to write to you about a serious issue that has gone on for far too long already. Most likely, you must have heard of the suicide crisis occurring in the community, along with all the suicide attempts happening there, the living conditions and the increasing suicide rates. I am sure that you are aware that this type of issue has happened in the past involving the community of Attawapiskat and that this is not the first time you have seen or heard of Attawapiskat and its issues in the media. This community has been the center of many issues, including the housing crisis, and the suicide crisis and so on.
Erik Alvarez Professor Bogusky December 02, 2015 INTRODUCTION Hello everyone, one of my earliest memories that I have from school is from my first day of kindergarten. I remember walking into my ESL, english as a second language class, & instantly being questioned as to why I was in there. My fellow classmates assumed I was asian because of how I looked and teased me to the point of tears. In reality, I am of Guatemalan origin.
Consider buying all ready prepared dishes, if preparation time is an issue. Another important detail to consider is if any of your guest have food allergies or intolerance (such as nuts, dairy, gluten). Makes notes of how much time each dish takes to be prepared. Also make notes on the cooking order of the dishes.

Bharati comes to America with her arms open wide, willing to adjust her customs and conducts in order to assimilate to her new country. She celebrates change and views it as a positive aspect in her life. The author says, “America spoke to me - I married it - I embraced the demotion from expatriate aristocrat to immigrant nobody,” meaning that to Bharati, America is not just a country. It symbolizes opportunity and freedom, which she desires most. (Mukherjee 282).
In the final hours of his presidency, President Dwight D. Eisenhower delivered a phenomenal speech that shocked the nation. President Eisenhower warned the people of the United States of the impending dilemmas approaching the future. He offered America advice to mitigate the damages of inevitable catastrophes awaiting. After half a century of complicated problems including two world wars and the great depression, the people had experienced enough hardship. They blatantly ignored the plea of President Eisenhower because it is easier to pretend ignorance than to initiate change.

Thank you, Millicent Fawcett, for giving me the opportunity to speak on behalf of the National Union of Women 's Suffrage Societies which Millicent leads with grace and dignity. Some of you may know me and some of you may not, but I am Clementine Forest one of 3000 women suffragists who has marched here today, the largest march ever occurred, for the cause of women 's suffrage. I am here to represent and express the importance of women receiving the right to vote. Unfortunately, the London weather wasn 't on our side with the presence of heavy rain throughout our march from Hyde Park to Exter Hall, but this reinforces that nothing will stop women from protesting their right to vote. As you know we have been gathered together as one, today on February 9th, 1907, the day in which Parliament is open once again for the coming year.
