Social media is the way to make some people can interact with other people. In millenial era, social media i very important so they used it. Some people used social media to get know more about new information and became to more updated. But some people used it to misbehave or do bully to some people in social media. Social media makes a special effect nd changes the world.
We live in a world of social media, though it can be a good and bad thing, everywhere you look you can see what everyone else is doing in their personal lives. Social Media apps are taking a huge toll on our personal lives and it’s at great risk that we are filming too much of our lives. With all the positive that social media brings, it also brings a lot of negative to things most important to you such as, your home, your privacy and your teen’s privacy. Have you ever heard of “insta bragging”? Probably not.
Many people use social media to discover and gather personal information about friends, acquaintances, and even strangers (pictures, likes, relationship status, political views, friends, locations, personal preferences and more). It is the free will of an individual to decide how much information he or she are willing to share on social media outlets. Many people, myself included, are concerned with the difficulty to protect privacy. Maintaining the confidentiality of information and preventing others from misusing it in ways that are beneficial to them is very important online interactions. The use of social media is creating a society unable to maintain personal confidentiality. The question that comes to my mind is there are people better off interacting amongst themselves knowing that an individual’s public and private figure are available online.
Social media needs censorship rules so the user’s behavior will be controlled. When an individual try to censor someone else post on social media, it takes multiple people to report the photo before they can take it down. The new solution chosen is better because the post manager or on the app censor will be able to determine it first hand and see if it is appropriate for social
We like it, we share it, we debate it, emoji it, ignore it, Tweet, retweet, follow it and Snopes it. Social media, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snap Chat, Twitter. We put it all out there for all to see, all to use, all to access, but is it good, is it bad or somewhere in between? IMHO, (in my humble opinion), social media has been one of the biggest social changes in recent years. Social media from the functionalist perspective started out as a simple, straight forward idea.
Social media has many types, like instagram, twitter, facebook, line, youtube, and many more. From that, we can access anything. Like searching, streaming, and chatting. It’s also can help us in doing something that we want. Social media makes it easy for us to find something or contact with someone else that far away from us.
But day after day, social media keep developing. And now, we can do various of things with social media, from working, searching information, communicating and to kill some time. With all of those advanced technology, of course there are some positive and negative influence to the users. As I will explain below The first negative impact is there are no more privacy protection on the internet, our social media account can be widely accessed from anywhere as long as there is internet and our data can be easily gained from stalker and can be misused for their own needs ( cyber crime ). The second negative impact is users becomes too addicted with their gadget and social media.
They say that people can hack someone’s identity and upload fake information. This may be true, but nowadays it is not very easy to hack person’s personal information because there is plenty of security software such as anti-virous software, firewall, sandbox are available to protect profiles (SENSIS 2017). Another problem mentioned by critics is addiction and wastage of time. For Example, most of youngsters spend their time using the internet as they continue watching videos on YouTube, exchange messages with their friends. This may be true but Holmes (2012) stated that social networking sites have a number of benefits such as making new friends, keeping in contact, sharing opinions and keeping updated with what is happening with friends.
But social media also has its downsides. Social media has made our lives less private and has allowed people to be able to find out confidential information about us. This topic is vital because all people using social media, from all different age groups, should be aware of the risks involved within social media because their privacy could be invaded by anyone. Social media can thus be seen as a threat as people can set out to harm you through invasion of your privacy. Social media is bad because it affects or privacy and communication skills.
Social media has developed a large interest in news online and the need for us to share information with others quicker and easier. The downfall of social media is that people post lots of false stories. Once false content is posted for all to read about, people in the mainstream media can be sued by the person who they have released information falsely about. (Anon., n.d.) Social media has changed the industry. News makers that are communicating directly with the audience with the use of social media are overtaking news organizations.
