Employees work most of their time in workplaces. The work has deeper meaning than a mere “nine to six” routine, for most it has become a place where they express themselves. Employees work with not only their hands, but also with their hearts or in other words spirits. Previous research has shown that it is when employee work with their hearts or spirit that they find meaning and purpose, a kind of fulfillment that means the workplace can be a place where people can express their whole or entire selves and be fulfilled(Duchon & Plowman, 2005). Thus the organizational behavior researchers have dwelt on a holistic perspective towards understanding this phenomenon. Summary of Major Ideas In his article, “Why the Secular Needs the Sacred,” William Kirk Kilpatrick accurately discusses the need for the sacred view of life. Kilpatrick says that the world tries to get along without religion, and shows how it does not work. Society has no good person or supreme being to turn to if not God because of all the different opinions flawed man has of what is right and wrong. People turn to a business agreement to try to explain authority even though the point of authority is always changing.

Religious discrimination in workplace entails an employer treating a person specifically a candidate or staff unfairly because of his or her religious beliefs. The Title VII and law protects people who have wholeheartedly held religious, ethical or moral beliefs (Eeoc.gov.). Religious discrimination can also mean treating someone differently because that person is affiliated with an individual of a distinct religion. Religious discrimination in employment, has not vanished.
The term “spiritual formation” can mean diverse things to different people. For me as a Christian, spiritual formation is the process by which God forms a person into His image. The goal of formation, as expressed by Ashbrook (2009), is “a Love Relationship with God…to live fully and freely in His love, and to respond by loving Him as well” (p. 26). Many experiences, both positive and negative, shape an individual’s relationship with God. The journey of formation will be distinctive, and often enigmatic except in hindsight, for each individual.
