Young children use their manners when they are in the presence of their elders, men being gentlemen to women, don’t take another person’s life, uses common courtesy, listen to people that you look up to, and also the golden rule do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Why are the commandments so important in today’s society? Southern hospitality is helping people without asking for their kindness. For example being welcoming and having a pleasant spirit such as when people visit your home, helping the less fortunate at the homeless shelters.

Chapter two in the textbook Reflect & Relate an Introduction to Interpersonal Communication by Steven McCornack talks all about what “self” is and how to achieve complete fulfillment for one’s self which is also known as self-actualization. The components of self, as described in the book are, “ . . . self-awareness, self-concept, and self-esteem” (McCornack 39). Self-awareness is the idea in which one can take a moment to move feelings, beliefs, and other external influences aside and just evaluate oneself in a holistic perspective that is not skewed by opinions of others, etc. Having the ability to actually think about who one is brings a lot of power and mental stability in such a way that allows for improvement.

Respect, love, right from wrong, these are very important things to have in Christian leadership. Charter and values of a person are different. Our charter is a spiritual fruit and a blessing that is built from a real, Godly relationship and total commitment to Christ as Lord. In order for us to develop a strong charter, the flow from the Fruit of the Holy Spirit must be accessed and developed (Galatians 5:22-23). The preacher must preach the word, the leadership sculpt it, and the church encourage and model it through the precepts of the world.

This is an ongoing process throughout our lives. According to Day, Halpin & Zaccaro, 2004, (cited by Share & Lalor, 2009, p123) for ‘self-development to occur, a person needs to become aware of his/her internal processes {thoughts, feelings, moods, beliefs and actions} and have an awareness of how these internal processes impact on others as an external process’.
