Understanding one’s needs requires that a teacher take the steps to understanding the child’s personality traits, interests, abilities, disabilities, and so forth. Students are more likely to grasp the interest of learning a specific subject if they feel that the teacher is kind and understanding, just as Trisha and Brittany’s teachers is. Brittany’s mother mentions that a significant change is notable in Brittany’s self-esteem and grades (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015). Trisha certainly associates her good grades to her relationship with her science teacher and identifies her teacher as helpful (Kirk, Gallagher, & Coleman, 2015).

It is a teacher 's job to cater and educate their students, regardless of their home lives, disabilities, or hardships. An at-risk child faces many hardships in school. This can be intensified without the support of their parents, teachers, and school. Through teachers, fostering resilience in their classroom, adhering to student’s interests, and encouraging physical activities, they provide at-risk children the ability to succeed despite the barriers they are faced with.

Students are preparing for the future and surprisingly, having both genders in the same teaching environment will actually help the students in the future. It makes them more confident when talking to the opposite sex, which students will need as they pursue their career as an adult. Students in single-sex classrooms will one day live and work side-by-side with members of the opposite sex.
Teachers are constantly working to prepare us for the next level. One time in school when my growth thrived was my first few days of high school. In these days, I was able to realize how far I’ve come and what it’s going to take to be successful in the school. From the start, I made the decision that I wanted to do my very best in high school to help my future. Ever since I’ve made this decision, I’ve grown into a hard working, knowledgeable person.
The roles of other support staff such as cleaners, dinner staff, caretakers, administrative staff are integral to the daily running of the school.
