The need for more prisons is not really a need. I am not in favor of the there being more prisons built in this world. Serving time in prison is supposed to be as unpleasant as possible. I am also not in favor of prisoners being mistreated by other inmates and or facility staff members. There are prison guards that often beat inmates and rape female inmates. These issues are also widely ignored. Here is California, we have one of the 10 worst prisons in America. Speaking of Pelican Bay State Prison. This prison located in Crescent City, California, has 3500 inmates. Out of the 3500 prisoners, 1500 of them are in solitary. Of that 1500 in solitary, 500 of them have been in solitary in excess of a decade. Are we sure, building more
Despite the fall of Imperial Rome which was highly developed for its time, the Romans created many variations in politics, economics and social structure. When forming the United States, our founding fathers used the Romans ancient society as a structure for America. This ancient t model allowed America, early and modern alike, to spiral and become an outstanding figure in global affairs. Although the united states and rome are very different they are also alike in many ways. Rome and the United states are similar because they both have a dying middle class and they both had a generalized law. However they are different because Rome was common for emperors to have enemies killed, but murder is not accept in America.
When the Roman Republic reached its peak, it soon started declining. There were many different political, economic, and social problems that developed when Rome surmounted more and more people. All these problems led to a civil war that changed Rome. This civil war transformed Rome from a republic to an empire. There were five main difficulties that Rome faced, and that led to the transformation of Rome.
During the era of classical societies, the Han and Roman empires were two vast cosmopolitan societies which dominated regions all throughout Eurasia. In regards to the fall of the Han and Roman empires, both were similar in that they fell victim to internal government decay, but different in that Rome fell to foreign invasions, while Han suffered from rebellions of their own people.
We all know that American is the gradated country in the would and we also agree that there were numerous contrasts between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution. However, the Articles of confederation were affirmed by congress on 1777, but their formal adoption was not achieved until 1781. It was an unassuming endeavor by another nation to unite itself and structure a national government. The Articles set up a Confederation that gave the majority of the ability to the states. Numerous issues emerged thus another Constitution was composed in 1787 in independence Hall. The new Constitution required a considerably more brought together government with significantly more power. Now I will give a chance to analyze the progressions
There are many similarities that can be noticed between the American Nation and the Roman Empire such as the same founding of government and both dominated in military, and economic similarities. Rome is famous for their harsh discipline amongst their own ranks and their mercifulness brutality amongst their enemies. Rome warfare was characterized by great ferocity and the roman pursuit of victory was determined. Rome gave many good ideas; the senate was ruled by the people of Rome. The Roman Republic Government was a large complex constitution, which was secure by many checks and balances, so that no man could have complete control. The United States follow the path of the Roman Republic. Although there are many similarities and differences,
Throughout the first movie of The Maze Runner series, which was released in September 2014, a group of scientists create a sickness known as the flare to reduce the population rate. Eventually they come to a realization that the flare is much worse than expected. The scientific experiments include a government group known as the World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department, or WCKD. This group introduces certain totalitarian ways within their methods. The Maze Runner series demonstrates the idea of totalitarianism throughout the everyday lives of these individuals by representing WCKD as a group that controls, restricts individuals’ rights, the understanding that such procedures being followed were just and vital for the greater good.
Today I will be comparing and contrasting two major early empire’s we learned about in Chapter two that are located in Southwest Asia. The three empires include the Persiansand the Assyrians Empires. These empires have many similarities and differences that we will be talking about today.
The Constitution was a document that was written by our Founding Fathers. It defines what our government is and what it does. It is the basic blueprint for all the laws in the country and it provides the three branches of the U.S government the power it needs to rule this nation effectively. But the Constitution wasn’t always how it is now, it used to be called the Articles of Confederation and it had many problems that are no longer present in our current Constitution.
Different periods throughout China’s history have different names, known as dynasties, for the diverse positions within its society. Theoretically, all of the periods are similar, with the government and military officials ranking high in the hierarchy, and the average everyday people being under regular Chinese law. Throughout China’s history, the society has been organized into a hierarchic system of socio-economic classes, known as the four occupations. The four occupations system seems to have become distorted after the commercialization of Chinese culture during the Song Dynasty. Even though the social rankings within the country are not as predominant as they once were, the people living within the country still know their “place” within the society.
In the movie Kingdom of Heaven, there were many inaccuracies throughout the film. Although the movie did follow the lines of the Second Crusade, things throughout the film turned out to be fictional. Some of these inaccuracies are how the love interests played out between Balian and Sibylla, those are not correct for the actual Crusades. Another inaccuracy is how people lived longer than they were supposed to after being wounded. Adding on to how people were wounded, they had medicine in the movie that they did not actually have back then. One of the last inaccuracies I saw in the movie, is the weapons they used, some of them were not created yet at this time. In the movie, there are many fighting scenes, with many different weapons used and not all of those weapons had been created yet.
Being 520 years apart caused Han China and the Gupta Empire of India to differ in their political administration but share similarities in their economic development and treatment of women.
For one thing, the word ‘star’ is in both of the titles. Both universes are portraying stories with philosophical messages in them. Star Wars centers around the concept of “good versus evil”. Star Wars emphasises against a totalitarian system and promotes societies that show equality. Star Trek shows the theme of exploration and the consequences (good or bad) of interference with other worlds and cultures. Both series also display societies of many different flora and fauna, spread across many planets. The galaxy in both series are under one rule. The United Federation of Planets in Star Trek are a group of planetary governments who agreed to assemble under a single central authority in a Utopian manner. In the Star Wars universe, the ruling goes from the Old Republic, which later became the Galactic Empire, and the reformed into the New Republic. The New Republic is headed by a chancellor, and it is a democratic
The Roman Republic and American Government, although separated by over 2 millennia, are obviously very similar to each other. With their similarities in foundation and their government might just be an indication that maybe the American government could be based off of the Roman Republic. Leaders in both, Julius Caesar and Abraham Lincoln have some commonalities. The time separating these two great governments doesn’t change their similarities and differences.
In this essay I will be analyzing the overall attitude and movie of two movies. Both movies deal with the issue of the American revolutionary war. First one, “1776” a broadway musical transfer to the big screen, directed by Peter H. Hunt and realeased on 1972. Second one, “The Patriot”, more “popcorn” type movie, directed by Roland Emmerich, and realeased on 2000.
