Like most of the details concerning Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the origins of the film's new two opposing sides have been a closely guarded secret. The original trilogy pit the menacing Galactic Empire against the rag-tag Rebel Alliance and now, some 30 years later, The Force Awakens continues the conflict with the former now known as the First Order and the latter known as The Resistance.
