Out of the numerous large organizations, Starbucks is the one that successfully developed its designs and combines functional and product based divisions. The best part is that its employees report to two heads. It creates a team spirit, amongst its employees, trains them to develop hard and soft skills and this empowers them to make their own decisions. One would rarely find a matrix organization frequently using its teams of employees to accomplish work. The CEO of a corporation is primarily responsible to centralize the organization, as per his or her vision and perspective. This way they are able to control the company in a better manner and in the pure form of his vision. This method is especially useful and helpful for companies facing financial difficulties or some sort of catastrophe. With this method, they shall have one source of decision-making authority heading them.
Since, centralized structures have many disadvantages, they are growing to be uncommon in the corporate world. Since the power is consolidated at the top of the organization, there is a risk of organization becoming incapable at the top, and that would be a disaster as they are leading the organization. An adhocracy is as a flexible, adaptable, and informal organizational structure without bureaucratic policies or procedures (adhocracy, n.d.). Every business organization needs structures that are efficient and can raise opportunities for co-operation across market segments. Furthermore, it is an endeavour of every organization to utilize their resources to the optimum, when they are operating a multi-product, multi-service company.
