One of them is to research in automobile technology and to design my own automobile or an Ariel vehicle. The academic learning so far has given me a good grasp of fundamentals in Mechanical Engineering. But I feel that my education so far is just the beginning of the journey of my learning. I need to undergo a higher level of learning in order to achieve greater success in my future. I am highly motivated to pursue a graduate course in Mechanical Engineering from a prestigious institution like University of Maryland (UMD), Maryland, United States.
I was the only person in my family who selected engineering as a field of profession. My father is a retired teacher and elder brother is doctor and the other one a forester. Engineering was something really interesting to me. When I was a kid, I remember that in school days, when I had no idea about Engineering and Medical fields, I liked to look at things from an engineering side like what this machine do, how it was build how to use it. These things really brought me to the field of Engineering.
I enjoy engineering, in fact when I get older I want to become a biomedical engineer. I want to be able to help people. As well as find solutions to help people in their everyday lives. So that hopefully it would make life easier and less stressful for them. I enjoy all the problem solving that comes with engineering.
For all of my life, I have had a skill and a great interest in the design and construction of a variety of objects and machinery. I have known since day one that all i wanted to do is design brand new and innovative technology. I have chosen Waterloo as my first choice of education for my future career as a mechanical engineer for many reasons. One being the schools amazing reputation as a school of applied sciences, having been given the nickname “MIT of the north” by many. I know a few people who have attended this University.
Mechanical Engineering is the core of all modern scientific development as it can help construct all types of machines, to reduce human efforts. I have always been fascinated with what mechanical engineering has helped accomplish, as engineers are able to build complex structures such as aircrafts and satellites. Physics and maths are two of the most important aspects of mechanical engineering and I personally enjoy pursuing these subjects and learning about atomic particles, kinetic motion, fluids as well as statics, dynamics and vectors in them. I am from India, which is a rapidly developing country where mechanical engineers can play a key role in developing my country as they can design various of machines and equipment that can be used in technological systems, buildings, vehicles etc. I have spent most of my life abroad India, and have seen various engineering projects.
I have a passion for streamlining things – making processes – I choose to be a logistics manager for a inter university competition designing testing and fabricating race cars and marketing manager getting subscriptions raising funds so that the show goes on. My intention for graduate studies in Mechanical Engineering is to prepare myself for the long term ambition of pursuing a career in research and development. My father, despite being a government service holder, has always inspired me to cherish my ambition and to stay focused. Also his teaching of understanding concepts and analyzing logically has helped me immensely in the long run. In the pursuit of knowledge, I have constantly adopted a meticulous approach to achieve a detailed understanding of the topic. My passion towards science eventually drove me towards the best engineering school of my country, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).
This program, with provided me with an opportunity to delve deeper into this field and gain fundamental knowledge of the sub-disciplines. Being a passionate experimentalist, it was the laboratory sessions that particularly appealed to me during my undergraduate course. With the guidance and encouragement of my laboratory supervisors, I found myself striving to discover novel and more efficient solutions to problems. And this novel and practical approach was what helped me secure good grades in most lab sessions. Though Mechanical Engineering is perceived to be a strictly technical discipline, my endeavors helped fortify my belief that it is equally a form of art because it requires a creative perspective to unravel previously undiscovered solutions and unlock new horizons.
