The baker encourages the couple, understanding their pain and, offering helpful advice to make the grief more tolerable. Seeing the pain the family is experiencing, the baker turns off each of his machines that work to help him survive and focuses on the couple. The baker observes the fatigue and pain consuming the couple and knows they need to eat something. He selflessly gives them each hot rolls and coffee (Carver, 1983, p. 13). The couple graciously accepts his gift, realizing the importance of eating.
We worked as a team as one stuffed the hotdog another wrapped, leading other group to place them in bags and get it ready to distribute. Once we were done with the packing, we left to an area in downtown where the bags are distributed. When we arrived there, we could see that many homeless people were gathered waiting for their meals. It really took me by surprise by the number of people. They looks very malnourished, cold and looked very happy to see us there.
After a few days of traveling, the soldiers came upon a large village. They approached a cottage door, and when an ancient lady cautiously opened it, Albert began: “Ma’am, please, could you spare a bit of dinner for three starving soldiers?” “Absolutely not!” was the woman’s decisive answer. A crowd of villagers gathered around the doorway when they heard her startlingly loud response. “Who were these strangers, and what did they want with Granny (the lady’s nickname) that would make her so angry?” the villagers wondered. When Granny realized she had gathered an audience of neighbors, she pointed to them, and again addressed the soldiers: “You think WE have enough food to spare?
Tita had refused to return to reality when she left the ranch. When Checha went to go visit Tita, she gave her ox-tail soup. Both Tita and Chencha believed that ox-tail soup would make any person feel better. This was indeed true because after eating the soup Tita felt much better. This is an example of Magical Realism because when Tita returned to reality, she started weeping so much that her tears had created a stream that went down the stairs.
After much tribulation, she runs away with Idgie to open their own café, named the Whistle Stop Café, to raise her baby in a safe environment and get away from the abuse from her husband. The food that they prepare and serve at the café not only saves Ruth from the terrible suffering she had to go through, but also brings life into the small town that they live in. The first time that fried green tomatoes are brought up in the film is a very significant moment in Idgie and Ruth’s relationship. The fried green tomatoes that Idgie made have a connotation regarding the happiest moments of their lives during the film. The café that they worked hard at and the fried green tomatoes that were very popular, along with their barbeque, made the two women very successful in that small town and allowed them to get very close and grow their friendship.
Working through this project has provided me with experiences with managerial responsibilities that I can use later in my life. Overall, the entire process of my Eagle Scout Project has truly marked my transition from being a child to a young adult. My Eagle Scout Project has given me the privilege of helping my community. I learned what it truly takes to perform a project, start to finish. My passage from childhood to adulthood was demonstrated by my dedication and commitment throughout this project, which has shown me the potential I have to make a difference in my
Trustworthiness will not go unnoticed people will begin to put more trust in you giving you more responsibility and privileges. Scouting has also brought me and my family closer together, as my parents would help me pass off merit badges. My parents have pushed me achieve extra merit badges which are not required to have for eagle rank, but give me more skills to prepare me for life. I also help my younger brother prepare for his eagle, guiding him through the same time consuming ranks as I have gone through. Receiving the rank of an eagle scout is a very long process that I am about to complete.
Consequently, a difference is being able to help them out by providing a daily, warm and home cooked meal. To reduce stress levels, we provided meals for the family and ensured that they are receiving their recommended servings. In addition to my internship at the homeless center, I was able to comprehend the many definitions are associated with homelessness. Homelessness affects children and adults’ by preventing a healthy lifestyle from occurring. It also alters their perception, mental health, increases abuse, and limits
I wanted to make something happen that had a more important meaning. Making crafts and helping with my friend’s fair animals was great and I will always love those memories; however, I wanted to make a change. After doing a 4-H project on my family history, I realized that too many people in my life have been taken from me because of one disease: cancer. I knew right away that other people want to make a difference and find a cure to cancer too. This is when I realized I wanted to take all the skills I gained through 4-H and lead my peers in a team through the American Cancer Society Relay for
This is why thoughout the years I've tried to look for opportunities to help people. By looking back on all the things Connie did for her community, I noticed how important volunteering and doing community service. Not only does this benefit the person that is receiving the help, but it also benefits the provider. Indeed, doing community service molds a person’s character and personality. Perhaps this is why I was so eager to begin community
For example, I am an active member of the FPC band. I have met a lot of new people being in that club that helped inspire me to make a bigger impact in my community. As I begin volunteering more time outside of school I realized how much I enjoyed dedicating my time to help those around me. Motivating others to do the same then became my goal for my future. My intelligence and intellect are also very important to me and thus have led me to this situation.
