As a determined and persistent math learner, every step in my life resulted from my love for math and, in reward, won me better opportunity to do math, and finally lead me to computational applied mathematics. As one of the fortunate who had experience in several institutes, including UC Berkeley, UCLA, and find great interest in research, I am convinced that doctoral study in Mathematics at UCLA will provide me with the training I need to conduct research at the highest possible level. From elementary school to high school, I enjoyed intensive trainings to prepare for nationally renowned competitions. While the medals I earned in mathematics competitions have opened up doors for me from middle to college, the knowledge and experiences gained from years of unremitting dedication to the craft of problem solving have proven to be the most rewarding result. I was enrolled in the Physics department at the first year in Fudan University for some unexpected reasons.
I scored 90% in Mathematics and Physics in Matriculation Exams 2006. While studying the introduction to Electrical systems in Physics, I discovered my innate interest in the digital world. When I passed the HSS exams, I wasn’t burdened by what path to choose, Electrical Engineering had already been chosen
Right from the beginning of my education I have shown a keen interest in mathematics and physics that have strengthened my quantitative and analytical skills. This strength empowered me to secure 90% in SSC (10th grade). I passed my senior secondary school with 98.7% in mathematics and 90% in physics respectively and I gained an overall percentage of 95.2% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, which were my main subjects. For all of my life, I have had a skill and a great interest in the design and construction of a variety of objects and machinery. I have known since day one that all i wanted to do is design brand new and innovative technology. I have chosen Waterloo as my first choice of education for my future career as a mechanical engineer for many reasons. One being the schools amazing reputation as a school of applied sciences, having been given the nickname “MIT of the north” by many. I know a few people who have attended this University.
I always got some great persona with the indefectible understanding of science as my teacher, be it my school or my college. Acquiring knowledge from these influential teachers I scored 90.125% marks (topped in the class) in my 10th standard with 99% marks in science, which widened my road to science. Then I scored 86.8% (topped in the class) in my 12th standard with 92% in Chemistry and 100% in Mathematics. This huge marks brought me INSPIRE fellowship, given by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, given to the top 1% student of each state board.
