Rudy’s perception on himself changed over the course of the book because when he was talking about when he was young that he wanted to be a diesel mechanic. His perception changed because as he got older, he wanted to become a doctor. The reason he wanted to become a doctor was because people doubted him and said he couldn 't become one so he wanted to prove them wrong. Rudy even states in the book that one day he turned to his friend Chris and said “I think i 'm going to become a doctor.” Rudy’s thoughts of becoming a doctor was very deviant to people who first found out about what he wanted to do with his life.
“Go ahead and tell me that you know all I can be, you’ve studied every droplet of my ever-changing sea. But weren’t you ever taught that seas are only where it ends? The things that tell the story are the river’s twists and bends. Also, Brent Staples wants his readers to realize how much colored people sacrifice from their normality in order to fit in with society, in hopes of not being attacked or offended. Thesis: The problem in society today is in the industry of social media. In efforts to attract the eye of the general population, advertising companies create billboards, commercials, flyers and other ads with stereotypes that are accepted in today’s society. Because of the nations’ cultural expectation for all different types of people, advertisement businesses follow and portray exactly what and how each specific gender, race, or religion should be.
The brown wood fence surrounding the backyard was not locked when Cedric held the gate handle, trying to open it. It’s widely known that Brett’s had never locked his gate, the place was always opened and welcomed everyone. The backyard just past the gate was empty when he, the guard, and the dog walked on the winding cobblestone leading the building. Recyclable trash and wood crafting littering the green lawns at the backyard was the evidence that the place was used as workshop space. The 1200 square foot red brick building in front of him was a two-story structure contained a collective of crafting tools, computer, electrical components and the ornamental metal sign on the hanging bracket said Scavenger gallery and studio.
When I was 13 years old, I accidentally stumbled upon a cave while playing in the woods. I found a really weird vase ,but when I picked it up something glowing flew out of it. The next day I realised something was off, my hair was slowly fading to the deepest black you could imagine, my nails also grew a few centimeters. As I aged, I did some research, and found that the cave was enchanted. I didn’t bother telling anyone, because I knew no one would believe me.
