Abstract— In India, about 25 percent of deaths in the age group of 25 - 69 years occur because of a heart disease which means losing more productive people to these diseases [11]. There are many diagnostic tests and investigations available today which can be used to diagnose heart disease depending upon risk of heart disease, patient history and the symptoms one might have but the initial diagnose can be done using the stethoscope which is used to hear auscultation. Stethoscope is a unique device to hear heart sound and provide effective ways to evaluate the cardiovascular diseases. It serves as the most frequently employed technique in primary health care, where sophisticated medical equipment is not available (such as remote areas or developing …show more content…
The portable device has ability to heart sound in real-time without or with earphone after signal acquisition, signal preprocessing and power amplification. At the same time the embedded processor samples the signal and outputs to TFT LCD Display. In addition, provision are made so that signals are stored in micro SD card that can help professionals for offline analysis later on at far distances. Also provisions are made to visualized Real-Time as well as recorded data using LabVIEW. Software modules reveal important information for cardiovascular disorders, hence overcome the shortage of expert doctors and help them in urban as well as rural clinics and hospitals.

Figure 3 is the structure diagram of the system which is composed of portable device and laptop installed with LabVIEW. Portable device includes sensor, the pre and post amplification circuitry, low-pass filter, post amplification, Arduino Mega2560, Head-phone amplifier, TFT LCD Display, and power modules (not shown in Figure 3); a signal picked up from patient is amplified, filtered and digitalized for further processing. A digital data is displayed on graphical TFT display as well as provisions are made to store data on memory device for future reference. The user can take the stored data from system to any portable devices such as laptops or mobiles for analysis using dedicated
Annexe 1 : Heart murmur 1. An unusual sound coming from the heart that can be detected by a stethoscope. These noises are caused by an abnormal turbulence produced when blood flows across one of the heart (valves, cardiac chambers) and or vessels close to the heart Heart murmurs are classified by the intensity of the sound heard: Stage I (murmur is of low intensity and can hardly be heard) to Stage VI (murmur is extremely loud).
By shadowing a cardiologist, Dr. Chaim Gitelis, I learned about the anatomy and pathophysiology of the cardiac system. While shadowing, Dr. Gitelis taught me the fundamentals of reading an EKG and echocardiogram as well as the basic management of cardiac disease. I interacted with the patients on the inpatient wards and well as the clinic. Dr. Gitelis impressed upon me the importance of giving each patient the time they need. He clarified the patient’s problem, discussed his thoughts with respect to the patient’s disease, and explained how he planned to treat each patient.
The American Society of Echocardiography (ASE) established
Computerized tomography (CT) scan combines X-ray images taken from many different directions into cross-sectional views of internal organs. CT scans can provide detailed information about the structures within the heart and lungs. 4.3.2 Lab tests. A test using blood from an artery in your wrist can measure oxygen level.
Staples & Earle (2008) used a phenomenology research design, where they used a convenience sample of CHF patients to determine effective technologies for monitoring patients with heart failure admissions and mortality. The effectiveness of CHF patients through the use of telephonic assessments and interventions was implemented. Congestive Heart Failure study participants (n=591) were managed by a team of registered nurses and nurse practitioners. Data was collected using a telephone log and appropriate medical protocols were provided. Data was analyzed; determining frequency of calls, level of care required and scope of practice needed to ensure proper care of the patients.
The only known heart problems were rheumatic fever and "soldier's heart". Doctors would rely on the methods of percussion and
These results are not completely logically due to the fact of the unavailability there is of this technology, not all collegiate and youth programs are going to have access to telemedicine, making it not logical. Aside from this, the information is still reliable and sufficient. The authors organized the information all in one section, but inside of this it is still relatively simple to
Central line associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs) in 2009 were amongst 23,000 infections in the inpatient population of US hospitals. (Sweet, Cumpston, Briggs, Craig, & Hamadani, 2012) These infections increase morbidity of patients, mortality, and increase cost. Those that are at risk are the population with central venous catheters. This infection is commonly due to improper hub care and consequently provides the direct introduction of the bacteria into the blood stream. A fairly new intervention to prevent this morbid infection is the implementation of alcohol impregnated protective caps, otherwise known as the brand name Curos caps in addition to others.
The ultrasound machine has seven different parts, “the first part which is the most important part which is referred to the “eyes and ears of the human body” which is called the transducer probe, which sends and receives sound waves. The second part of the machine is the CPU ( central processing unit) and it is a computer that does all of the calculations and contains the electrical power supplies for itself and the transducer probe. Then the third part of this machine is the transducer pulse control, it changes the amplitude, frequency and duration of the pulses

Technological advancements have brought efficiency and effectiveness of all aspects of human life. In the health care sector, physiological activities can be effectively carried out by the patient’s bedside through use of modernized equipment’s. The machines function through production of specific sound and in case conditions deviate from the normal range, they consequently and automatically vary the type of sound produced calling for urgent attention from doctors. The alarms have been proven to be of paramount importance in the health sector, however, they have been giving rise to alarm fatigue. This is a condition where sensory stimulus becomes overloaded amounting to sensory desensitization a condition which can make the attendant’s to
Also, the Bodyscope is a very practical device. Unlike state of the art devices that needs to be worn around the wrist, attached to phones or integrated with cameras; the Bodyscope latches directly with the part of the body responsible for sending out these acoustic signals, that is, the neck or throat. 4. What assumptions are the authors making?

PERSONAL STATEMENT (NURFATIN BT MOHD SHAH) I want to further my study in this course because it is thrilling and rapidly- moving subject area, that is highly pertinent to the problem facing by society today. As far as I concern, cardiovascular disease is one of the popular cause of death. I am keen to learn more and involve in the latest advances in cardiovascular research. Over the years of studying, my interest in this area has increased.
• • The apple watch has popularised the market of smartwatches which is something companies like Samsung could not do. This is due to the clever marketing strategies of apple, and in turn gives them an upper hand in the smartwatch market as they are the centre of attention. • Apple can use its advantages in the smart watches in order to shift towards a new market of bio-technological gadgets. The development of the bio-sensors in the apple watch could provide a gateway for development into another market. Weaknesses
