Abstract— In India, about 25 percent of deaths in the age group of 25 - 69 years occur because of a heart disease which means losing more productive people to these diseases [11]. There are many diagnostic tests and investigations available today which can be used to diagnose heart disease depending upon risk of heart disease, patient history and the symptoms one might have but the initial diagnose can be done using the stethoscope which is used to hear auscultation. Stethoscope is a unique device to hear heart sound and provide effective ways to evaluate the cardiovascular diseases. It serves as the most frequently employed technique in primary health care, where sophisticated medical equipment is not available (such as remote areas or developing …show more content…

The portable device has ability to heart sound in real-time without or with earphone after signal acquisition, signal preprocessing and power amplification. At the same time the embedded processor samples the signal and outputs to TFT LCD Display. In addition, provision are made so that signals are stored in micro SD card that can help professionals for offline analysis later on at far distances. Also provisions are made to visualized Real-Time as well as recorded data using LabVIEW. Software modules reveal important information for cardiovascular disorders, hence overcome the shortage of expert doctors and help them in urban as well as rural clinics and hospitals.

Figure 3 is the structure diagram of the system which is composed of portable device and laptop installed with LabVIEW. Portable device includes sensor, the pre and post amplification circuitry, low-pass filter, post amplification, Arduino Mega2560, Head-phone amplifier, TFT LCD Display, and power modules (not shown in Figure 3); a signal picked up from patient is amplified, filtered and digitalized for further processing. A digital data is displayed on graphical TFT display as well as provisions are made to store data on memory device for future reference. The user can take the stored data from system to any portable devices such as laptops or mobiles for analysis using dedicated
