And there is also the issue with interpretation: how the director or the author interprets the play determines the spectator’s feelings. Therefore, I think, in the script, that is what Williams intended to depict, Blanche is sympathetic. But, the film directed by Elia Kazan changes a likeable character, so that Stanley becomes more identified with. To prove that, this
Another review that came out, takes a different view on the film. Roger Ebert, a famous critic, gave his thoughts on the film in a review where he states, “‘Apocalypse Now’ is the best Vietnam film, one of the greatest of all films, because it pushes beyond the others, into the dark places of the soul”. This is a remarkable quote, from of the most respected reviewers of the time. Ebert also can be quoted stating, “In any event, seen again at a distance of 20 years now, "Apocalypse Now" is more clearly than ever one of the key films of the century”. Once again the statement shows Ebert’s approval for the film.
Vincent Van Gough’s role was played by Kirk Douglas and the role of his brother was played by James Donald. Currently they were all placed in top 16 of the US Best Colleges rankings (‘National University Rankings | Top National Universities | US News Best Colleges’) and placed in top 50 of QS World University Rankings (‘QS World University Rankings 2013’). Although they still maintain high ranks, nowadays some people argue that the time for Ivy League schools is over, pointing out their high tuition fee and emerge of non-Ivy schools as new outstanding schools. However, Ivy League schools are still the best schools worldwide because of its
Mise-en-scene is often cited as one of the most important indicator in a film of the director’s personality. It is the way how the director control and create his individuality into his own film through expressive cutting skills, camera movements, slow or face pacing, the direction of the characters and their placement in the film and decorations, the angle and distance of the camera, and even the content of the shot. Nowadays audience would observe and detect the mise-en-scene of the film as a way to determine or indicate whether the film is directed by the same particular person. On the other hand, Almodovar film’s normally can be spotted easily for its striking mise-en-scene, its bold attractive colors and glossy decorations. He also sometimes may uses unusual and shaky camera angles, specially costumed made outfits and his prevalent uses of LGBT themes in the film.
The budget was used excessively on the well-known actors like Keanu Reeves, Dina Meyer, Ice-T, Dolph Lundgren, Udo Kier and Takeshi Kitano who was popular in Japan. This lead to an insufficient budget that focused less on other critical aspects of a good film such as quality assurance that created a mismatch with the director’s vision and the original novel
Steven Spielberg is one of the most influential directors ever, he has directed over 50 movies which has made him inspirational, he has all of the character traits of a leader, and he co-founded the studio ‘Dreamworks’. He has made a large impact on this century and the jewish man is only 68. Mr. Spielberg once said “As a Jew I am aware of how important the existence of Israel is for the survival of us all. And because I am proud of being Jewish, I am worried by the growing anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism in the world.” Along with this, he has made many films around the holocaust. So, this shows us that he is a leader in the jewish community as well as the general community.
One Missed Call by the French director Eric Valette was one of the most known films in the early 2000’s. Mostly known for the incredible thrill it gave audiences, but not a lot of people are aware that this 2008 film was a remake of a 2003 Japanese film One Missed Call by Takashi Miike. This is mostly because the original was Japanese and the remake is an American film, but if you took the two films and put them right beside each other and not taking the actors in consideration they are almost exactly the same. So why did Eric Valette remake the film? When it comes to the casting, many things are the same just as they are different.
Once again, ARRI can claim the top vote getter amongst cinematographers in this year's Academy Awards race. But the surprise was that the ALEXA Mini was a very popular choice within that subset. But while many shooters preferred ARRI, there were other cameras that still got some notice by Oscar. Roger Deakins Blade Runner 2049: Cinematographer Roger Deakins nominated for Best Cinematography and he is a master at giving stark, barren landscapes and other worldly, yet beautiful sheen. And for this followup to the sci-fi classic, Deakins chose three ARRI camera platforms: The ALEXA XT Studio, ALEXA Mini, and ALEXA Plus.
The components that went into the production of the 2012 film Lincoln practically guaranteed its success. It was the combination of one of the most notable events in American history, the civil war, directed by one of the most coveted movie directors in the film industry, Steven Spielberg. Unlike a lot of films typically in theatres, Lincoln included a sense of realism stemming from its basis in real history. However, for viewers like Gary Gutting, the question arrived of whether the historical dramatization had complete validity to it. As he argues in his article “Learning History at the Movies” published in the New York Times on November 29, 2012, while the film may be very entertaining, people should not interpret it as a history lesson
Antoine Fugua is the only black director to direct a film where a black actor won the Best Actor Oscar (Denzel Washington, Training Day). While the movie shows them dating. The problem with showing the viewer that Chris is this wonderful person all the time is that it’s fake. Showing the character’s his faults makes him more relatable. On top of that Chris is very intriguing on his outlooks of the life he lives adding a sort of mysterious enigma to his character. “Some readers admired the boy immensely for his courage and noble ideals; other fulminated that he was a reckless idiot, a wacko, a narcissist who perished out of arrogance and stupidity—and was undeserving of the considerable media attention he received” (Krakauer – Author’s Note).
Films in the 80s were less experimental and original, but more formulaic. (Dirks) Director Steven Spielberg became especially popular with the film “E.T.”. The movie took American movie audiences by storm during the summer of 1982. (“Spielberg and Lucas”) It went on to become the biggest moneymaker in Hollywood history. Steven Spielberg and George Lucas were both very successful during the 1980s.
You can make an argument for Kareem being called the best and not Jordan. Comparing these two great athletes’ achievements they both have six championships, but Kareem only has two final MVPs while Jordan has six. Jordan has five regular season MVPs, but Kareem has six. These two superstars go back and forth in some of their list of achievements, like either Kareem has more of this or Jordan has more of that. However, although Kareem could be considered the best he played twenty NBA seasons, which is five more than what Jordan played.
They see, right through is appearance and they think that he is a phony. And I’m sure many other people would think that of him too. But he may considered “great” in a couple of his actions, BUT when it comes to the way he earned his fortune, he’s not that “great”. It was made through illegal activities, and his so called fame was earned in a very dishonest way. And it all comes down on him when he realizes that all of the “friends” he has are only with him for him money and fame.
