Stephen Hawking was born in Oxford on January 8th 1942. He graduated from the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge and got his PHD. from the University of Cambridge. In 1963, Hawking had a disease that paralyzed him. He only can move a few muscles. The doctor said that he only can live for two years. However, Hawking had his strong faith that kept him alive. Although he still can’t move anymore, his body’s condition became stabilized. He continued his study in the university. He wrote the famous book “A Brief History of Time”. He has no religion. He also enjoys his life even though he can’t move or talk. He even appeared in movies and TV shows. He went to many countries to give lecture. These lectures encourage lots of young students to study physic. Consequently, he is not only a great scientist, but also a great man with optimism and strength. 2. I was born in Oxford, even though my parents were living in London. This was because during World War II, the Germans had an agreement that they would not bomb Oxford and Cambridge, in return for the British not bombing Heidelberg and Göttingen. It is a pity that this civilized sort of arrangement couldn’t have been extended to more cities. We lived in Highgate, in north London.
