Accused Again – Steven Avery
Steven Avery was accused of the ruthless murder of Teresa Halbach. She was on the Avery property to take photos of Steven’s van which he wanted to sell. Over the next few hours, she was ‘apparently’ murdered and her body burned. Only a few short days after this, the unreliable Manitowoc Police Department charged Steven Avery with Halbach’s murder. After following and studying the case, I am convinced that Steven is innocent, and has been framed for Halbach’s murder. Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that Steven has been accused of a crime he never committed, by the Manitowoc County Police. He was the last person to see her alive according to the witnesses. These witnesses include Bobby (Steven’s nephew) and Scott (Bobby’s step-dad), who both lived on the property and were there at the apparent time of the murder. Although this seems very suspicious, they were not ever classified as suspects; only witnesses. They were interviewed together in an informal setting, acting as each other’s alibi. Regarding other people being looked into as possible suspects, Colbourn said that “it would have been ideal”. However, the police still didn’t look into anyone aside from Steven. Other people who were not looked into include, her ex-boyfriend and her roommate. “Halbach’s ex-boyfriend was also interviewed in an informal setting” (Factsheet #3). He was also dubiously the one who put together the search party for her, as in many cases the actual murder has done (Making a Murderer, 2015). While there are multiple pieces of evidence which try to portray Steven as guilty, there are countless more pieces that prove him innocent. After knowing about the mysterious blood found is Halbach’s car and the undeniable fact that Andrew Colbourn knew about the site of the victim’s vehicle before it was found by the search party. Subsequently, the very unreliable James Lenk found they keys and the reality that Steven was the only suspect investigated. This evidence should be raising some questions in your mind; ‘How can an innocent man be punished for a crime he so undoubtedly didn’t
