On February 14, 2018 a former student of Stonewall Douglas High School walked the hall with a rifle and fired at many of the students leaving 17 students and teachers dead and 17 severely injured. Many students nade calls to their families and to an emergency number. The shooter was eventually caught but to this day they are still remembering the tragedies that occurred on that day. For many students that was going to be a normal valentines day where the only things that they had to worry about was school and who their valentine was. This shooter who was later identified as Nickolas Cruz. Cruz was a 19 year old boy who had been expelled from SDHS, he was adopted at birth and later his adopted family died. At the time of the shooting he had been enrolled in a GED Program and had a Job at the local dollar store.
He was charged with 17 accounts of first degree murder and 17 accounts at first degree attempted murder. He is now in a high jaila and they will not set bond. His little brother Zachary Cruz was held on account of trespassing on the school property and his bond was set for $500,000.
