First, I learned that most video games used as educational tools today just engage children, they don’t actually teach them anything. Throughout my educational career so far, I have played many educational video games. By reading this article, I now realized I learned very little from the educational video games that I played they simply just engaged my interest. Also, I learned that there is a national shortage of workers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics fields. I, myself, don’t have a large interest in STEM field, but I never thought there was a national shortage of workers. Now that I think about it, I realize that I really don’t know many people that work in a STEM field. I believe this is because growing up many kids view STEM subjects as difficult or boring, which is why it is a good idea to incorporate games that pertain to STEM subjects because it will change how STEM subjects are viewed. Lastly, I learned that the goal for educational video games is to engage and teach children a concept without the children even knowing that they are learning. This idea surprised me because whenever I played an educational video game in school I usually knew the game was trying to teach me something, because the game would usually wasn’t trying to hide it or wasn’t hiding it well enough. I think that educational video games, such as Storm Evaders, are becoming increasingly better at hiding the educational value of the game and making it
One message that could be inferred from this article is that children need more outdoor time during the school day. Both Lee and Dadvand exemplify the benefits of not using technology but in different aspects, like building relationships and adding more outside time. This source will be used to help for the solution portion of the essay and how to have less technology in the classroom. Divall, C. (2010). Mobilizing the history of technology.

The value of the STEM system (science, technology, engineering, and math) is steering the education world in a new and positive direction, although some may believe otherwise. In Lloyd Bentsen’s article, “the United States educational system will continue to fail our children,” he talks about how he disagrees with Zakaria, another writer stating his views on the STEM system. Bentsen believes the STEM system will benefit America. In Scott Gerber’s article, “How Liberal Arts Colleges Are Failing America,” he talks about how people can correlate their majors into entrepreneurship. Lastly, in Fareed Zakaria’s article, “Why America’s obsession with STEM education is dangerous,” he shares his belief that our obsession with STEM is just a way to overlook
Isaiah Stoute Shield From the Storm The author puts the reader in the vicarious position of a child confronted with the ideals of empathy, morals, and innocence. The author uses imagery to show how empathetic the boys felt toward the birds. The boy said “shh” as he removed his jacket that was so harsh and cold on the outside, but was warm and dry on the inside, and placed it on the birds.
For one, gaming affects education. In a study done by two University of Oklahoma professors, differences are reported between gaming and non-gaming schools on science, math, and reading tests in 2006-07. Students at the schools associated with gaming outperformed their counterparts in four out of five instances. The gaming group showed more than a 2.73% favorable gap with the non-gaming group in regards to the reading test and an even greater disparity of 5.66% over the non-gaming group on the math proficiency test (Conner & Taggert 2009). This study comes from the Indigenous Policy Journal, a journal that deals primarily with Native American culture and society.
"The Storm" is improper by any generation's standards, particularly for the time that it was written in the year 1898 since it is about an affair. Some of the characters are sexualized, show maturity, and show adults that make decisions that could affect their lives. By having amazing sex outside their marriages, Calixta and Alcée return to have those marriages feeling renewed. The author seems to excuse the adultery by allowing the characters not to be punished, and by having an ending where everyone is happy. Sexuality and desire walk through the lives just like the storm comes through in a single day.
There are many societal changes taking place due to the advancement in technology such as, how certain drones are being used, how there have been different ways of learning things in different way, and differentiating between whether or not games are good or bad for generations nowadays. This article “drones will be launched in an attack on hurricanes this storm seasons” by Orlando Sentinel sums up that there are drones (coyotes) that were designed to better improve the estimations on when a hurricane will get stronger. Experiencing 3 Deaths “Norman Maclean writes that dying in a forest fire is actually like experiencing three deaths” (Junger 563). Sebastian Junger an author/journalist mostly known for “The perfect storm” conveyed his point of view in BLOWUP: WHAT WENT WRONG AT STORM KING MOUNTAIN. In this nonfiction journal entry, a wildfire broke loose on Storm King Mountain in Colorado on July 6th, 1994. Where 14 firemen tragically gave their lives fighting in a combination of rare weather and nature conditions. Junger presented Chronological order, a text structure to provide evidence of lives protected by evacuating at the exact time they did.
I started to gain more knowledge on how this technology exactly effects children 's behavior and social skills. At first I thought video games only negatively effected a child 's behavior and social skills. My understanding changed was I realized the countless amount of positive effects that can result from attentively playing video games. These positives only can occur with time restrictions and age appropriate regulations. These changes made it easier for me to construct a counterargument in my

Although video games may be a bit more dramatic than real-life war, teens will discover strategies to fight, and hide. Video games are a highly beneficial activity for youths everywhere, and they should be kept.
