The aim for my unit 3 project is to investigate the work of many different street photographers as the theme I have chosen is street photography which covers a whole range of things, where it’s trying to make the simple everyday tasks seem interesting to look at when captured in a series of photos.
To progress with this theme further I will be researching many different photographers all with a variety of styles, such as Siegfried Hansen, Nils Jorgensen, Nick Turpin, Andrew Z Glickman and Andreas Paradise looking at these photographers will help me to determine which work I prefer and find most inspiring to take forward and create my own images in the style of.
Street photography is define as taking images in a public place

Siegfried Hansen’s work looks really abstract and simple with his images, he does not include people’s faces as he feels it’s more interesting and creates a sense of mystery to them, as well it forces the audience to look more closely at the image and creating a reaction, so people can chose for themselves what the message behind the image maybe. He feels that the black and white images have a stronger visual impact on the audience more than the colour tends …show more content…
As well as focusing on the right lighting to have, from the correct day and where the sun or clouds are in the sky, so I’ll need to position the camera at the right angle to create the right shadows.
These images I have chosen from street photography NOW are from the photographer Nils Jorgensen, which looks at the simple things in life and how beautiful they are. The reason why I chose this photographer is because I would like to look more closely at the ordinary things on the streets such as shadows and make them sure much more interesting with a meaning or story behind the images.
Nils Jorgensen is a London based photographer with a passion for fining low key and over looked beauty, he spots unlikely patterns and picks at collisions of line ad form in the most interesting ways. Jorgensen is known for his photographs of humour, as he likes the reaction from the audience when they see them his is what mainly motives
P. White also turned something dull and boring into an interesting and capturing piece. I’m not sure if he made a cautious decision what color the background would be and what colors the guy would wear but I like to think that he did. The background and the guy felt so natural together and at peace. The shots were also so simple but so beautiful.
Terence Davies film, “The Long Day Closes” portrays the life of a young homosexual boy living in a postwar society. The main protagonist Bud, represents Davies experience of the good and troubled times that childhood and his sexuality brought him. The Tammy’s in Love scene flawlessly applies mise-en-scene, cinematography, editing and sound to depict the underlying message of finding yourself, a theme that is emphasized throughout the film. The use of mise-en-scene signifies the importance of the setting and surroundings by allowing the viewer to make connections between imagery and plot relevance.
There will be two images being discussed in this essay. The first image was called “9/11/2001” by Art Spiegelman and Francoise Mouly. The second image was “What So Proudly We Hailed” by Carter Goodrich. The reason these images were chosen was because they have many differences, but they also have a lot in common. This essay will contain the color, date, prices, color, and what are the similarities and differences between these two images.
The colors in the photo are cool tones and are triadic colors from each other, giving the photograph a calming feel to the viewer’s emotions. The general aspect of the curved lines on the Buddha face and clothes also makes the photograph easy to view for the viewer
"A once-in-a-lifetime wildlife spectacle" is a phrase Jim Carter, a writer, used to descirbe the incredibly beautiful Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the forword of Subhankar Banerjee's book 'A Photographic Journey'. Carter takes advantage of a person's unrivalled love of regions of outstanding natural beauty by referencing his time in the area. Carter and his wife camped in the wilderness for an unmentioned period of time, and I believe his time spent in the region allows him sufficent ground to argue the point effectively. In my opinion, he makes great use of emotional manipulation, references and relatable real-world current affairs to grab the reader’s attention.

It’s no secret that everyone holds their own opinion regarding the actions of police officers and other positions of authority within these past years, be it positive or negative. From the shootings of innocent and unarmed civilians to disciplinary action being taken against those that haven’t done anything unlawful, there’s rarely a day when the police force of the United States doesn’t find itself involved in some sort of controversy. No matter what side people find themselves supporting in these instances, be it the police or the civilian, it’s true that both sides can benefit from the use of these police body cameras. Police body cameras hold one main purpose and that’s to deteriorate the ever-present risk of unnecessary aggression on
Anderson discussed the Code of the Street as it pertains to inter-city morality, assessing that these attitudes either fall in the categories of decent or violent (Duncan, pg. 111). The “Code of the Street” is what Anderson would classify as the violent and is used as the law of the street that governs the community behavior particularly interpersonal violence and aggression. In the areas that fall into the arena of “Street Code” opportunities are limited due to the social isolation and economic oppression of these communities (Duncan, pg. 112). Due to the moral internalization of adult males to provide adequate financial support to their families, when social isolation creates a loss of jobs and opportunity the adult male is unable to adequately provide for his
Within “Eye On the Street” Tucker is able to give a glimpse into the transformation of photographs within the crowded cities. As cameras started to be made available for the higher wealthy class, it only allowed for select few people to get their hands on these cameras. Which soon became the talk of the town, as more pictures of public places are being taken and seen around the world. The photographs that were being taken are not the same picture over and over, but these photographs capture the “progress of the building of the city’s infrastructure: bridges, subway construction, ferry boats, buses, the waterfront, and signal towers for traffic.” (Tucker 7).
The short documentary film From Dawn to Sunset by GM Folks “recounted the daily lives of Chevrolet assembly-line and office workers.” (Marchand). However, the film contains multiple major flaws. Under the time of the filming, which is towards the end of the Great Depression, this film has created a false image of the workers. By aligning the film’s central theme to “the American Dream”, GM have successfully used propaganda on all of the film’s potential viewers.
Margaret Atwood uses imaginative images for the reader to understand such as “Eye in white on the side” the feeling of constantly being watched. Black and white representing the colors being washed away from
Introduction Attention Getter ( Capture): Anyone walking down the street in a big city will see the bright, colorful, and illegal “eyesore.” Introduce the topic: Graffiti is illegal in many places but many larger cities also have “legal yards” where artists can paint without the fear of being arrested, like Freak Alley. But some people don’t like of any street art.
