Before I saw the elderly would not dare to approach them, talk alone with them. After long-term care services to learn, let me learn how to care for the elderly and in contact with them. I realized that each person is unique individual life, not because of a certain part of the disability and then despise them. We should be based on a sincere and caring heart to get along with them. However, before that we must first develop a respect for life. In order to enter the inner world of elders, we must learn to respect elders. After that, we are able to find the problem of elders, and then to help them. Sharing life stories with them, let them feel warm and caring more important to get everyone 's respect. If the family has elderly patients, we should pay more care and concern for them. If there is an elderly living alone, we shall have to pay more care, evacuation call or visit them to see if they need assistance. Visiting the elderly can promote the growth of care
In the beginning of EMS the most dominant style of leadership was based on a transactional approach, rewarding those individuals that follow procedures with positive incentives and reprimanding those that do not with reprimands. However, times are rapidly changing and the servant style of leadership is quickly becoming more acceptable and recognized throughout the industry. The field of EMS is unique, sometimes posing unconventional issues that must be addressed, in addition to those that occur on a daily basis. The servant style of leadership can become an effective and preferred method of leadership when applied in a balanced method. This style of leadership places the emphasis on nurturing the needs of the subordinate employees.
Watson theory of human caring can be used by any vocation in any location. It surpasses cultural and global dissimilarities. It can be used in any setting from the emergency department to long-term nursing care settings. Watson’s theory is relevant to social and cross-cultural areas because caring is shared nonverbally in a language that exceeds cultural diversities. Watson notes that caring does not necessitate verbal exchange (Rexroth & Davidhizar, 2003).

The elderly are a largely growing population but they are treated as a minority group. They are placed in assisted living care for numerous reasons such as convenience, health issues, and distress of the informal caregiver. Although assisted living may seem like the best situation for our aging society the movie suggests that this may not be the case. There are many special instances that the elderly have to deal with, such as elder abuse and fraud, as depicted in the movie. Further investigation must be applied in order to limit the number of events like those of Joan Boice, Merle, and George
About 65.7 million informal/ family caregivers provide care to someone who is ill, disabled or aged in the US. Out of that 52 million are family members which could decrease to 32 million be 2020. This may possibly happen because many people don’t comprehend that we should listen to our elders owing the fact that they are wiser. In the non-fiction short story “A Celebration of Grandfathers” Antonio understands how precious and valuable elders are, but also how wise they are and why we should care for them. Rudolfo Anaya uses Antonio’s good personality to show how much respect he has toward elders especially his grandfather.
Working with the elderly has given me a different perceptive of life and allowed me to appreciate those around us that can truly make a
1.1 Explain what it means to have a duty of care in own work role. Duty of care means to have a legal responsibility towards others. It is a legal requirement that all health care workers must put the interest of their service users first and make sure that the service users do not come to any harm be it abuse or self-harm. As a care giver, my duty is to provide care according to the organisation’s code of practice in my day to day work, to make sure that my service users are supported and treated with dignity and respect by following the policies and procedures set out by my employer, it is my duty of care to involve service user in their care unless it is not possible for them to be involved. People are living longer lives now which has increased the elderly population, that we need to adequately provide care to. Now we also need to factor in the cultural traditions of this aging population.
Serving others is the sole purpose of our organization. Our mission statement is based around serving and protecting the community. It is the person and their physical, emotional, and psychological needs that are the basic focus of nursing’s attention. In order to care for a patient, the nurse must incorporate all these needs. For example, providing reassurance with an anxious patient who just finished hip surgery. Care also plays a major part when taking care of a unique patient. Caring influences my personal philosophy because it is the most important aspect of nursing.
Health care practitioners most see things from the older person’s perspectives by showing compassion when delivering care to the patient along side emotional support
According to Tronto (1993:102), care implies is reaching out to something and generally involves some type of action. In addition, it is not restricted to human interaction with others (can revolve around objects or environment), care varies across cultures, it is an ongoing process and can be regarded as both a practice and disposition (Tronto, 1993:104). Moreover, there are different interconnected phases of caring. Firstly, ‘caring about’ involves the recognition that care is necessary, secondly, ‘taking care of’ involves assuming some level of responsibility for the identified need and ultimately determining how to address it, thirdly, ‘care-giving’ involves meeting the direct needs for care (physical work) and lastly, ‘care-receiving’, recognizes that the particular object of care will respond to the specific level of care it receives (Tronto, 1993:104-107). Nonetheless, in reality, despite care being an integrated and ongoing process, there is likely to be conflict within each of the phases of care and between them (Tronto, 1993:104-109).
Caring: Caring is one of the most important words used to describe a nurse. Larson (1984) defines caring as the core, essence and distinguishing attribute of nursing. I believe that I possess the strength to care for others and behave in a caring manner.
