Streptomyces sp. MAB18 : Streptomyces is the largest genus of Actinobacteria and the type genus of the family Streptomyceae. A marine actinobacterium Streptomyces sp. MAB18 was isolated from the marine sediments of Cuddalore coast (lat 11°42′ N, long 79°52′ E), India. It is an extra cellular protease producing strain. This strain shows an antioxidant activity of protease by using useful substrates. Result of the present study shows that agriculture waste-derived protease produced by Streptomyces sp. MAB18 can be useful as supplementary protein and anti oxidant in the animal feed formulations (15). The extracellular alkaline producer strain Streptomyces sp. MAB18 was selected as a good protease producer among isolates from marine sediments. …show more content…
Around 23,000 bioactive secondary metabolites have been recorded which are produced by micro-organisms and actinomycetes alone produce 10,000 of these compounds. (24 jasmine). Actinomycetes represent large part of rhizosphere microbial flora, but root – microorganism interactions have been importantly studied for the nitrogen fixing specie streptomyces. Such species are isolated from sample of roots collected from plants that exhibited healthy vegetative growth. In this study samples were isolated from different geographic and climatic environments located in no0rth west of Italy (25 p.sardi). A Streptomyces strain isolated from a hyper-arid Atacama Desert soil was characterised using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. The strain, designated C2(T), possess chemical and morphological properties typical of the genus Streptomyces …show more content…
MAB18. Production of relatively large amount of protease by this strain was simple and it will be easy to scale up, as this natural occurring actionbactrium grows on simple media with agro waste as a soule source of carbon, nitrogen and energy. Hence by such advantage and facilty of sources from an in expensive substrate and a commercial potential with low cost the production of large scale of protease enzyme and extraction of antioxidants has been conducted. Streptomyces sp MAB18 produce protease which was tested under optimum conditions for the antioxidant activity of enzyme. By using DPPH radical scavenging activity, O2 scavenging activity, NO scavenging activity, Fe2+ chelating activity, and reducing power the enyme was found to possess good antioxidant potential. (31) This study evaluate the production of protease by using agricultural waste, with the subsequent usage of same agro waste for the conservation of antioxidants. This Enzyme is broadly utilized in food-manufacturing and analysis of chemicals, thus resulting in one of the most essential branches of various industries (Priolo et al., 1991, Pandy et al., 2000, and Moharib &Gad,2010). Proteases are still the major group of enzymes plays a crucial role in biological systems, such as viral maturation, protein degradation (fungal peptidase) and blood pressure regulation
Methods Unknown microbial #398 went through several of tests in order to identify its characteristics when isolated from a urine sample of Doris, a 64- year old patient with a kidney infection. To identify unknown #398, must prepare a working and a reserve stock by the inoculation from a broth culture and by quadrant streaking method on a PEM and EMP plates. The following test procedures were incubated at 37°C for 48 hours for observation and identification for unknown #398. The identification of unknown #398 followed test procedures from Brown1.
The purpose of this lab report is to employ a myriad of skills, tools and, methods learned throughout this semester to perform the appropriate tests for the identification of the assigned unknown bacteria. Add more background information here!!! The most important tools and techniques used during this identification include aseptic technique, microscopic examination and, the use of selective and differential media. Aseptic technique is an important tool for microbiologists. It is imperative that aseptic technique is maintained throughout the length of any test to avoid any cross-contamination that may lead to inaccurate results.

This study called attention to the part of serum prolidase action and its relationship with oxidative-antioxidant status in patients with clubfoot. Collection of blood samples, oxidative stress index, and statistical analysis along with the measurements of serum prolidase activity, total free sulfhydryl groups, total antioxidant capacity and
How Long Is Strep Throat Contagious? Strep throat is a bacterial infection caused by Group A streptococcus bacteria. Although only 5 to 10 percent of sore throats are strep throat, up to 15 percent of doctor's visits for a sore throat are due to strep. It takes 2 to 5 days from the time of exposure until symptoms appear.
Multi Resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a strand of Staphylococcus aureus that has become resistant to many commonly used antibiotics. Staphylococcus aureus is an infectious disease that is mostly harmless. However, upon entering the body, it can cause various types of infections in almost any part or organ system within the body. These infections include skin infections, invasive infections, and in rare cases it may cause illness.
These microorganisms are used to teach us how multicellular organisms came to be and how they can survive today. These small, microscopic organisms are so unique that the identification of them is paramount in the advancements of science. Knowing the chemical makeup, the shape, and the biochemical processes is important in identifying these organisms to understand how they survive and where. A number of tests can be ran on an unknown bacteria to determine their ideal
Do you suspect that you have black mold in your Los Angeles home? Black mold is most commonly a greenish black color. In most cases, you can tell right away whether or not the mold in your home is black mold or not. While it is always advised that you get mold removed and taken care of, there are some types of mold that you should have removed right away. One of those types of mold is black mold.
In the laboratory, identification of an unknown bacterium is often necessary. In the lab, a random sample consisting of three different bacteria was selected. The sample contained one gram-positive, one gram-negative paracolon, and one gram-negative coliform. The purpose of the experiment is to identify each of the three species that the mixture contained. After receiving an unknown mixture, the sample was streaked for isolation onto TSA, blood agar, and MacConkey plates.
The unknown bacteria was then tested on multiple selective and differential media. Growth was present on the MacConkey Agar and the colonies were the same color as the plate, which told me my bacteria was gram negative and did not ferment lactose. There was no growth on the Mannitol Salt Agar, and this told me the unknown was not salt tolerant and did not
Staphylococcus Aureus belongs to the extremely common bacteria of microflora of the skin and mucous membranes of the humans. These pathogens cause many infections, including superficial and deep purulent infections, poisoning, urinary tract infection etc. In the US, staphylococcus bacteria are supposed to be the leading cause of sepsis, postoperative wound and prosthesis infections. In addition, staphylococcus belongs to one of the leading causes of bacterial food poisoning. Staphylococcus Aureus is one of the most dangerous human pathogen.
1.1 Abstract The purpose of quantitative analysis of protein using a spectrophotometer is to measure the concentration of proteins in a given sample. The experiment is conducted by laboratory method (Biuret Test) and using spectrophotometer to analyze the absorbance of reactants at 540 nm, hence determining the concentration of the proteins in a given sample. Usually, the microbial enzymes have various potential uses in industries and medicine. The microbial enzymes are also more reliable than plant and animal enzymes as they are more stable and active. Also the microorganisms demonstrate an alternative source of enzymes because they can be cultured in large quantities in a short time by fermentation and owing to their biochemical diversity and susceptibility to gene manipulation. Industries are looking for new microbial strains in order to produce different enzymes to fulfil the current enzyme
Biochemical tests are the tests used for the identification of bacterial species based on the differences in the biochemical activities of different bacteria. Bacterial physiology differs from one species to the other. These differences in carbohydrate metabolism, protein metabolism, fat metabolism, production of certain enzymes and ability to utilize a particular compound help them to be identified by the biochemical tests. Gram’s stain was originally devised by histologist Hans Christian Gram in 1884. Gram-positive bacteria stain purple, while Gram-negative bacteria stain pink when subjected to Gram staining.
